Car mods / trends that need to die

Is it aerodynamically designed to stay on the car at max speed? Otherwise, it's a self correcting problem, lol.

I never saw any in person when I lived in Florida, moved to NC and they are EVERYWHERE. It annoys me to have to look at it lmao

They are mostly in real rural Florida. You know, where the people have Southern hospitality, but at the same time despise anyone who wasn't born and raised in the South.

Yesterday I was behind a brand new sky blue BWM M2 (2M?) with an aftermarket carbon fiber trunklid and all I could think was “way to make a $80,000 new car look like a beater overnight”

Literally this…

…and here I am upset my bumper paint is a shade off!!!!

I spotted it again, this time with proof! 😆

rtr dude may be cornering hard to get the gas lines on the car; my firebird did that, until I replaced the cap.

I know exactly what you’re talking about but no way that’s happening with a modern gas cap.

Modern cars do not have a gas cap at all, the Bronco I just drove didn’t have one. I’m super careful about gas drip and I won’t ever top off beyond that first shut off (click) then I wait a few seconds before removing the pump . I'm not sure what could possibly have happened with that Mustang. I was open to Grogs suggestion that perhaps it was an issue with the gas pipe, but maybe it IS user error at the pump.

Ford hasn’t had gas caps since 2009 IIRC.
Speaking of car trends that need to die, this is one of them. What fucktard of an engineer decided to replace a $20 gas cap that takes 12 seconds to replace with an integrated seal that is going to wear out and require replacing the entire filler neck assembly at a cost of $200-400 plus about 4 hours of labor! If I ever meet the sadistic moron who came up with that bullshit, he will be going to the hospital, and I will be going to jail!

If it's a flap seal, like at the bottom of our filler as an anti siphon device, I'd stand by my comment; It's leaking on corners. :)
Thank god I have no new vehicles!

I really liked the capless gas fill in my Navigator... Very modern and saved a step when filling up!

Unfortunately other common Ford problems made me dump the truck before the gas fill went bad.

I rented a car about 10 years ago that had that flap. It was out of gas so I stopped at first station I could and the damn thing was broke but couldn't get nozzle in because it was preventing the inner one from opening. I wound up ripping it out to be able to put fuel in. Turned that crap in like that . I like the old chrome one on side of my '68 f100.

With the Suicide tank right behind you so you can hear the gas sloshing around? That’s great. I had a 71 C10 like that.

Here might be a controversial one as I myself intrinsically like it… on the right cars…but, lettered tires, specifically modern low profile black wall tires with sticker overlays that say whatever your creative whim desires 🙄

But even beyond that, even on old cars it’s more appropriate on, I really find Cooper Cobras cheesy. When I think RWL on those sorts of cars I think Good Year or BFGoodrich, even Firestone… When I got my Cougar I threw on the cheapest set of RWL tires I could afford at the time; “Invader Radial GTs”, and even then I really wished I’d just bit the bullet and bought BFG Radial TAs that have some history. Cooper Cobra is such a stupid edgy name on par with those I cringe as much seeing a car with them as I did with my old invaders. I don’t care if Derek from VGG endorses them, BSW out!

Nevertheless they still look 100x better than overlays on low profile tires!!!

Way back when I first got my Tbird, I had the BF Goodrich TA’s with raised white letters. It looked great.

You can really tell we’ve owned our cars about the same amount of time 😆 Honestly I think if I had bought 245mm BFG radial TAs for mine then I might not have hub swapped/gone the Mustang wheel route, at least as quick as I did.

This one is more just an aesthetic thing, but I do not understand all these newer expensive cars with battleship grey paint. Why is that even an option? It’s like “Congratulations on purchasing your new $200k Porsche! Would you like that finished in 3 stage candy blue metallic, or clear coated primer?” I never thought a color could be more boring than 70s ultra-beige, but here we are.

I don’t know what it is with M2s but I keep finding offenders, I saw this one today. Not only battleship grey but matte battleship grey, so it looks like straight up primer grey without clearcoat!!!

Guess that’s convenient after a crash 😆

That custom plate tho.... Probably a cool guy lol

Agree! And frankly I like primer grey cars, it’s just insane the premium prices manufacturers want for it, it should be a paint delete credit! 😆

I was looking for an F150 in that primer grey color, but most dealers wanted about $4-$5k more just because of the color. I ended up settling with ingot silver, plus I got a crazy deal on my truck, I could’ve flipped it and made a $10k profit right after I bought it.
