Car mods / trends that need to die

I don't know...

I kind of like seeing something through the grille. That's one thing I don't like about my car: the grille is too small. I've been considering swapping to a Cougar front bumper cover, but without the Cougar grille, thereby having a large opening, probably with a floating bird emblem. Has anyone done that?

It’s not that I mind seeing the braces, it’s just part of the structure, but coloring them in where they have more visual “pop” than the grilles is just clutter.

It reminds me of old restored muscle cars where the painters leave the front of the core support/hood latch body colored, I go with the original designers; you’re not supposed to see that crap!

Well, when I did my floating emblem mod, I painted the structural bumper behind the grille matte black so that the original green doesn't show through. So I kind of agree.

But I like, for example, to see my transmission cooler through the grille, and then I say to myself, "Nice install." 8-)

Just in general, I like seeing technical things. That's also why I removed the chrome spheres from the lights. And why I hate engine covers.

Oh yeah in terms of radiator, condenser, coolers, intercooler I have no issues with, that’s what I intrinsically expect see behind a grille!

I agree..... found out how much I really hated not having the area behind the grill black like original after I put a brand new aluminum radiator in both my '55 Fairlane and '77 Maverick.... first thought after looking at it was damn.... I should've painted them black first.🤦‍♂️

Cougars have those cool braces across the lower valence; you could paint yours technicolor, Matt! ,lol. Mine have snap on covers, in black.

Alright I’ve got a pedantic one:

^These stripes on Dodges!

First off I don’t really like stripes to begin with (there are a few exceptions), but these specific style of stripes to me are Ford/Shelby stripes, I accepted it on the second gen Viper GTS given Carrol Shelby’s actual involvement in that car but Hellcats are well beyond his mortal existence and frankly they look as silly on these as they would a classic Challenger or Charger. The black stripes in particular which are the most common I have a grievance with as they literally look like the diecast Maisto ferrari I had at age 12 that I added similar stripes to using electrical tape 😆

White with blue was the classic Cobra look, imho.
