I've been wanting to install a cargo net in my '97 Sport that didn't have that option included, but not sure what's needed.

I've looked over the TCCoA site and there's threads there that are 20 years old with missing photos and outdated info & links.
But I did learn that the cargo nets were options on Birds/Cougars that would have included a different back of trunk trim piece that had the four anchors for the hooks.

Two questions:
  1. To do it the way it would have come from the factory, what would I need and are such parts still available from Ford or elsewhere?
    • I've been to TBSC's site and they're out of stock on nets, but no real useful info there.
    • SPC's site - Nothing there
  2. To do an aftermarket cargo net, like from Amazon or Walmart, are there any recommendations on what installs & works well in our trunks and includes everything needed without major modifications, because I like to keep my Sport as close to factory as possible.
Thanks 8-)

I had done some research for the retainer nuts and found some at TBSC when doing my car. What I had come across was something like this: 1000002045.png
There are a few varieties but I didn't have to go that direction as I found the stock ones. If these would fit the posts, they would work well for your intended use.

What posts?
As far as I know, there's no posts in my trunk to attach anchors to.

Yes, the plastic trim panel that goes side to side is held on each side by plastic nuts over studs.

I actually have those types of nuts pictured above, picked up from the junkyard, though I don't use them for a net. My cargo net hangs from the trunk lid.

The factory posts are simply the top mounting studs for the plastic trim panel on the trunk, the screw onto them like the plastic Phillips head nuts that holed it on(I actually thought all MN12s had these with or without the cargo net)
