While under my car this weekend tightening up my exhaust, I noticed grease spun around the right rear wheel. Tonight, I took the wheel of to get a bettter look and found what looks to me the edge of the CV boot had too much grease and blew out the excess. I cannot find any tears or leaks and the location looks to be right where the seam of the boot cover is. I cleaned it up and will check again, but wondered if anyone else has seen this before.

Check the clamp to make sure it is tight, but yeah, you probably just had some grease around the lip of the boot that worked it's way out. If the clamp is tight (can you turn it on the boot?) and still in position you should be good. I've had that style CV clamp work loose and do that. I prefer the other style clamps that you hook together and then pinch them to tighten them up.

I have a couple dryer vent clamps I was going to use if it did it again.

Thanks Kevin for the feedback, nice to know it is not that uncommon.

BTW: Upon inspection, when I got the CV's, the left side clamp, wheel side was partially off the edge, but it was not leaking and has not leaked. I just left it alone, but if it did loose its shit down the road one day, those dryer clamps are going on.
