Do i need to unlock my xcal4

My xcal4 has my stock tune in it, as my tuned eec died in my green car.
Is the xcal4 tied to the dead eec?
Do they charge you to unlock it?
Who would you personally use to tune your MN12?

Yes unfortunately if you had a tune loaded into the dead EEC and can’t return it to stock the Xcal is effectively locked. Only way to fix it is send it to SCT and they’ll unlock it for something like $100.

The question I have is do you still have the old EEC and how dead is it? If it simply has faults (hanging injectors or something) you might well be able to plug it back into the car plug in the Xcal and return it to stock.

I didn't think of that, yes I still have it, it wouldn't let the car start.
I will try to return it to stock.

I've had to deactivate an eec in the tbird; it wasn't shifting correctly, and I had to swap it out.
You start with 5 unlocks on the xcal. Switching will lose 1 of the 5.
After 5, it has to go to sct.
