Anyone have experience with these tires? It’s time for new rubber. I really like the BFGs, but they don’t last long, only rated at ~45k. I drive ~16k/ year. I’ve been running TOYO and while those have been pretty good I’m exploring options. BTW still on stock 15s.

I've gone through a few sets of Altimax RT43 - had a set on the old 96 Mark, went through a set on the 98 and replaced them with the new RT45 after having ridden on the RT43s for 55k and a couple of them were getting close to the wear bars.

Also used them on the wife's old 2007 Fusion, and had the in-laws put them on their 2011 Hybrid.

They're a decent all-around tire - price performance is good. There are better tires out there but they all come with a bigger price tag.

When they get to be a couple years old and wear down/dry out a bit the wet traction drops noticeably. Road noise I'd say is average. Tire quality is decent though I've yet to encounter a set that stayed in balance for the life of the tire (despite 5k rotations).

They're good for the price point. I run Michelins on everything, but I know a lot of people who run the Altimax and swear by them for a cost-conscious tire.

+2 on the Michelins. I've been running Defender 2s on just about everything for the past 6-8 years. I regularly get 70k-80k out of them no problem. They run quiet, balance well, and handle reasonably well for an all season tire.

If you have a Costco card, you can score a hell of a deal on them too. My Edge has that oddball 19" size. Paid $1205 OTD including 9.75% sales tax for a set of CrossClimates on it last November.

They also sell cheaper brands at the same discount.

Anyone have experience with these tires? ...
I purchased qty 4 RT-45's in March this year for my 95 LX. Not a bad tire, decent rating in Consumer Reports. Was a $70 rebate if you buy 4 at the time. General is owned by Continental. I would have preferred Michelin Defender II but they didn't seem to be available in the size for our 15 inch factory wheels.

Yeah it looks like Michelin only make 16" & up now. I'm going to put Michelins on my Ex. Leaning toward these Generals for the Smurf.

In 2014 I put the Alitmax RT43s on the stock 16's. They were a nice riding tire gave good road grip; they didn't squeal when pushed hard like cheap tires seem to do. My only negative would be they didn't seem to get much traction in snow. Car didn't get driven in the winter though so that wasn't an issue

No real snow here. That’s one of my complaints on the TOYO, they make allot of noise when pushed.
Did you run the stock size, I’m looking to go a little wider.

Mine is a sport so it came with the 16s. I had 235/60-16 put on, so one size up from stock. Undecided if I get new tires for the factory wheels if I would get that size again or go with the stock 225/60-16.
I liked the look from behind; the tires were defiantly a bit wider. But from the side the sidewall also looked bigger so bit of a tradeoff it seems
