Hi all. Joe told me to come over here. Shame the OG forum is so dead. Will still use for good write up viewing.

This is how dad’s car is doing. This is what’s going in it. 2019 F150 Gen 3 5.0 and a 10 speed. After waiting to catch a deal on a powertrain I couldn’t pass on this one.
Looks like I’ll be doing a mars harness and pats delete kit. That’s all I really have concrete so far. The goal is for this to be as clean and well done as I think Johnny would have himself.
That’s the update!

Engines home. This weekend as time allows is garage and carport cleanup.
Need a good workbench. As of right now I have concrete, which is fantastic. But I would really like to have an elevated surface for refreshing this transmission. The “trash can” as the techs call it and the CDF drum pack are coming out and are getting replaced. I don’t really want to have to deal with those common issues I know I will experience eventually.

The truck that this engine came out of drove to the dealership where it was declared kaput. But it’s funny, I drove this one myself to the dealership to drop it off for a CEL. When I scanned it was related to emissions. But it was called to be replaced, so it was ripped out.

I am crossing my fingers it looks okay in there but if not it just means I gotta work more overtime.

Ordering a good basic online manual for the 10R80, but the local ford dealer service is very cool and have already offered to print me up the ford procedures for this thing.

I have not decided on AJE/Boxing the stock K-Member. Have to do some digging and figure that out probably first. If I box the factory K-member this will all happen a lot quicker, and will take some pre-practicing on similar metals to nail it.
AJE seems like I would fight less fitment issues overall. Unsure how it would affect handling and steering inputs so that’s where I have to dig.

What's the plan with the original engine? Or is that long gone?

What's the plan with the original engine? Or is that long gone?
Original engine is still in the car and it does run but the harness took a thrashing in the field at my grandmas and not everything is right in here. It’s never just been perfect since. I have no idea really what I would do. I’m way too sentimental about all of it to make any decisions. Got plenty of time to think about it lol

I'd keep it for sure. A lot of time and knowledge went into it. Then the sentimental value of it being your dad who built it, that's immeasurable.

May be a cool thread/series to document a tear down and rebuild.
