As you may know, lately I have been watching the 'will it run' shows on YouTube. One phrase that started with Budget Buildz guy was "dial it in" and it made me cringe everytime he said it. Now Dereck is saying it and I noticed it came out of the mouth of Junkyard Digs as of late.

I understand what the phrase means and in some ways it fits, but to keep saying it about 20 times during a show, it gets pretty old.

My pet pieve for the week....

I’m pretty sure I say it but it’s not in their context of progress shoveling raccoon poop from the glovebox lol

My current peeve with automotive YouTube of late are the giveaway cars, which like clockwork are not entertaining episodes in the slightest, and clearly a cashgrab. I know YouTube doesn’t pay shit unless you’re mr beast or whatever garbage normies watch there but all these channels go about it identically to one another at the same time as one another, it pisses me off as much as when overnight every YouTuber started plastering their dumb faces with their dumb mouths agape 😱 for the almighty algorithm. Ugh!

Side peeve or maybe just observation, I’ve not really watched much YouTube lately but I generally watch the ex Motortrend guys eps when they pop up and man is it clunky! I always yearned for Roadkill to go back to low budget but that turned out to be a real monkeys paw wish granted! Freiburger needs a cohost, Finnegan needs money, and Dulcich needs to tell Wiley to stay behind the camera. All of them operate optimally with those conditions met, the majority of episodes where they’re not… oof 😬

Thanks Grog from refraining from saying "dial it in"... :P

And XR7, wow... That was a lot of info in a short note. I do agree though, "all rescues came from RoadKill" (it would seem). And no, your not missing much, they are all the same. And here is a good point why I think they are all the same. While watching a show, I start telling them what to do next and shake my head when they are fixing something and didn't do it the way the other 12 shows do it. (LMAO here)

I find it so disgusting that these guys pull cars out of mid-west / eastern barns, derlick garages, and debiltated storage or whatever and wear NO masks or hand protection. In this day and age, it is common sense to protect yourself now that we know what is out there. Most likely, they won't come across a hantavirus mouse, or cut themselves on a rusty piece of metal, but Murphy's Law still exists and why take the risk when all it takes is stupid face mask and some leather gloves for 10 minutes while yanking out crap from the trunk where a 3ft x 2ft pile of rat house is sitting.

I am also amazed and jeoulous of some of the cars they pull out of a "nice" barn and need little to nothing but TLC to get it on the road again.

BTW: on a side note, I finally got the Cougar out for a long drive with the wife and dang if I was not impressed at the power, handling and how quite it was. My wife seemed happy too. Not sure if she was happy because I was not screaming at the friken idiots on the road these days or cause the car drove without issue and it was a nice quite, easy cruse. I really liked that I had the A/C on had plenty of power to go up steep hills, power past the slower drivers and suck the wife back in the seat at take off (lead foot take off that is).

Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

Steve Magnante of Junkyard Gold was in a coma for the better part of a year with encephalitis… which you can contract from(drumroll) rodents!

Otoh the danger is part of the entertainment value. I’d watch NASCAR if they went back to street chassis and safety standards of the 60s 😆

Well XR7, Dereck is giving a butt load of stuff this time. I gander its over $60k if not more. I suspect thousands will but a t-shirt or a hat or a thousand T-Shirts and Hats to enter into the drawing. Not only that, but he has COMMERCIALS NOW! (plural)... and he is doing voice overs of his work that he is talking about.

Oh geez, just kill me. I need to find a new out for my extra time I have.

I built these over the last couple of weeks and still have the cloth covers to make...

I’ve noticed not just car YouTubers but YouTubers in general all started doing live ad reads in exactly the same spot in in the exact same cadence as each other in every single video. “…but before we get into that, let me take the time to tell you about…”
