My first post as a new member...I have a base model 1991 Thunderbird 5.0, and all of a sudden I noticed the passenger side footwell was dark. I was sure that the lamp was burned out, but when I crawled underneath, all I found was this harness. The owner's manual said the correct bulb is a "98", now discontinued. There are other compatible bulbs now available. My question is this - did the base model even have a light for that area? Help please!

Welcome to the club! Also from Las Vegas. Going back to 91 I'm not an expert there. But I'd think there would be a courtesy light even on the base models.

I thought they were regular 194 bulbs. At least, that's what my 97 uses.

Does the driver side have a similar harness, maybe someone removed the passenger side one for some reason.

Thanks guys for the response - I have 194's but the housing is way too wide. I checked the drivers side and it has one of those old-fashioned round bulbs with the brass housing...tried to pull it but it was hot as hell!

That loose brown connector does appear to be the connector for the light socket, here's a pic of a harness with both, I wonder if it was kicked out of the way by a clumsy passenger at some point






And Welcome! a 91 base 5.0 is a cool combo, your car matches the one used in the magazine ad!(minus the cornering lights)

Welcome to the club 5Litre, thought Id drop my two-cents here. I have a Canadian spec base model, and i MEAN base model, with the 3.8L and mine does not have a footwell light, I'm not sure how the 5.0 might have changed things but Id imagine that it might not have came with it either. Very nice car either way.
