Does anyone have experience with the Nitto NT05 versus the NT555 G2? They are one of the few tires I can get in 295/40 R18 so that is just over 27" tall. (27.26") I'm open to other brands, but Toyo and Mickey Thompson have nothing in that size, or anything comparable. 285s are 26.97" but the 255/45 are 27.05" and with the fact the rear tires will be shorter after not very long ( bet you can't guess why 😆) I just don't think they'll work.

Any particular reason you're looking for 295 tires?

I run both the NT05R in the back and the NT555 G2 in the front. I wouldn't recommend going larger than 285/40 in the rear as the tire will rub on the fender. I run the NT555 G2's in a 255/45/18 size in the front.

You can get the MT ET S/S Tires in 285/40/18. I have those on my back of my car now.

I did have my fenders rolled. I'm really just looking to be a touch over the 27" mark. Maybe I shouldn't be worried about .25". But pretty sure I can fit the 295 just fine with my 18x10 +40.

They don't make the NT05R anymore 😕. How was the traction of Nitto vs Mickey? We've run Mickey's on 15" exclusively over the years with good luck

How is the NVH on those?

I wouldn't call them quiet, but they're not noisy - they're noticeably louder than the General RT45 all seasons and the Arctic 2 snow tires I use on the Lincoln. I've yet to come across someone who can perfectly balance these on my rims as well - there's always a little shimmy over 50.

I can’t speak to the NT555, but when I ran the lemons car we ran the NT05, and I absolutely loved that tire! It was not only stickier than other tires with the same tread wear rating, it was also cheaper, and most importantly way more predictable at the limit and as it wore down.
