Post a picture you took today

If you use full synthetic oil in a motorcycle with a wet clutch, you no longer have a clutch, so it makes a difference.

I use full syn in my bike. I actually use Castrol 15/40 diesel engine oil. Poor screenshot but the circle above the red 15/40 has to be blank on the bottom half.Screenshot_20260529-094237.Chrome.png

Drained the fluid from the trans, I’d say it looks a little sparkly.
After reading up on the T45, they say not to use full synthetic…Ooops. I used Amsoil Full Synthetic.
After I get it back, I’m going to use what’s recommended, Motorcraft V.

Most information I found recommended to use standard Dex/Merc in the T45. I recall specifically not using Mercon 5 in mine. For what it's worth it has always shifted great and I have a bit less than 10,000 miles on the fluid.

What was it originally? I don't recognize the interior.

At 244,290 miles I ushered the Mark VIII (and all the spare parts I had accumulated for it) off to a new home yesterday to make room in the driveway for my new DD. 😢

The car now is in my dad's name. I received this picture from my brother this afternoon, so it looks like it's getting some TLC. Sounded like he might take a stab at addressing the oxidizing clear. Maybe I can convince them to join up? :)

That red fusions rocker panels are looking about as good as my red Focus’s ones from about the same year. Stupid Ford 😆

My 07 rotted out in rear rockers, passenger side was the worst.

What's the new DD?

I hadn't planned on retiring the Lincoln this year (I was actually planning to do it next spring) but the jump in gas prices made me reconsider getting a more efficient vehicle now while supply was plentiful. I'll certainly get shade for this one. 😅

2024 i4. No SUVs/CUVs/trucks for me!

I was considering one of these since they were first released stateside in 2022 because I found the BEV concept appealing and discovered that the i4 was the only true "car" BEV that didn't have a hideous profile without spending close to 6 figures. However I was not in the market then and we were still paying off the house. I also was hesitant to go full BEV because of range anxiety but I realized my wife and I could swap cars if I needed to take a long road trip for work, and with the price crash of used BEVs coming off-lease the deal on this was way better than a new PHEVs or HEV. Plus IMHO it seems the Germans are about the only ones right now who know how to make cars with styling I don't :zpuke: at. I like the look of the i5 better (no buck teeth) but I wasn't prepared to lay out the extra cash for it right now since I took the plunge a year early.

I've been making bank off the solar roof now that the weather's improved; the amount of excess power I generate but don't use is enough to drive this thing 2000-2500 miles a month - for free. Granted I will probably only drive it half that much, but that's still like $250/mo worth of gas savings at the current pricing... :beek:

For whatever it's worth the i4 has the highest reliability rating of any BEV right now (which I found surprising considering the BMW reputation), and at least it's got a RWD powertrain with enough juice to push it past 60 in under 6 seconds, so I'm content with what I got. I'm not a huge fan of the dash/infotainment thing but it's slowly growing on me. Plus I knew I'd always end up with a BMW eventually; they are named after me, after all. ;)

Hey we have an emoji for this lol :BMW:

As long as you don’t get a broccoli haircut and pipe in fake exhaust noises that sound like war footage I won’t judge though

Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the future(y)! Same here with mine, albeit I went with the most polarized BEV brand; but also the GOAT;)

A lot of people don't understand that the 0-60 time doesn't really explain how much faster a good EV is. The instant full amount of torque at any speed, and the direct drive with no transmission slop.... it's always fast and quiet with no waiting.
I have had mine for about 6 months now. The smoothness and power are something I would never again want to be without in a daily driver.

I still think ICE cars are more fun to drive, and also a better option for most people. But driving one now feels kind of like.... the-flintstones-fred.gif

No please, vegetables and alpacas belong on the farm not my head. Though I do wear mirrored sunglasses so I guess I qualify at least a little lol. As far as sounds, yeah, I turned all that crap off!

I actually experienced this for the first time today while taking the family to a friend's place for his 2-year-old's b-day party. There's an intersection of 60 MPH streets where we turn left into traffic, which does not stop, and is obscured by a hill they crest just before the reach the intersection. I waited a few extra seconds to be sure traffic was clear and made my turn without any real alacrity, then within a few seconds of straightening out some guy crests the hill behind us and is closing FAST. I hit the accelerator and, despite going 30ish, we were immediately thrown back into our seats as we hauled it up to 60 in seconds. Had I had to do this in any one of my other cars, it would have had at least a second of lag. It was quite a pleasant surprise!

The T-bird is still the fun car; there's a visceral experience with it that a BEV can't match with the engine vibration and exhaust purr, no matter how fast they might be. Different cars for different things. :)

Free car wash for the Cougar. I haven't driven it in rain for a long time. The worn BFGoodrich from 2018 are not fun to drive in such conditions.

I reset the trip every fill up, and looks like it's at ~150 miles... already down to a 1/4 tank. It's just my fun car these days.

AC works great, and the defroster is still working well too.

Quick photo opportunity, I trimmed the palms at the end of my driveway a few days ago.

Did you replace the headliner with suede? Looks good.

I’m getting good at this, I have it down to 3 1/2 hours to get it out. 🙄

I didn’t realize you had the Tremec one, those are best T45s(reverse issues notwithstanding) it’s got the thickest shift forks and carbon fiber blockers

…unless you bought the one I used to have, it was a 96 Borg Warner with a Tremec bellhousing I swapped on 😆

Thanks, it's faux suede. I redid it when I was doing the manual swap.
My uncles s500 had the real stuff back in the early 2000s, that was my inspiration. He was always showing off the real suede leather in his Merc's headliner and braging about how many cows it took to make the interior.

It seems to be very instyle now with new cars. They call it "alcantara" , but it's just IMO faux suede. Either way it is a nice material !

Alcantara is a brand name, but the general concept is the same regardless of brand, i.e., synthetic microfiber with a faux suede-ish surface texture.

I have used the "Synergy II" brand product on multiple projects. It's extremely sturdy, doesn't fray, and comes in many colors, but it does not stretch a whole lot; it has to be worked around curves very deliberately.

I actually want to do my headliner, but I haven't decided on the color. Either match the exact current color, or go with the darker color of the dash and center console. I'm leaning more toward the darker color for a somewhat custom look.

It took me a while to adjust to the instant response. To quickly get moving usually the first reaction is just mash the gas and wait for a downshift and engine to rev up. However when you do that in a BEV it instantly throws you and everyone else into their seat
Also not having upshifts in normal driving was odd for a while. I would catch myself lifting off the accelerator because I was muscle memory trying to get it to shift into a higher gear that does not exist

I was going to do the same but the material I got was folded rather in a roll and full of creases and wrinkles and just gave up on the idea forever 😕

I call it Velour 😆
