So my tack just stopped working. I have replaced the odometer gear and I'm wondering if I may have disturbed something. Going to pull it again and see.

Isn't this a symptom of a failed crank sensor? Do the stop working just like that?

If the engine runs, it's a problem with the gauge. Reseating the cluster connectors and popping out and re-seating the tach in the cluster are worth trying. But I've also seen tachs fail completely too, so having a known working spare handy would be a good idea before you pull the cluster.

This is good to know. Mainly because the one in my Pearl T-Bird never worked since my wife and I first met, so 16yrs ago. But in this case, the cluster has never been disturbed.

Just wondering where you got your odometer gear at. Mine just went out.

Isn’t yours a 97? It’s a different gear than the 89-96s, it’s usually the worm gear driven off a motor that fails in the 97/Taurus cluster(though much less common)

The odometer just went out on my 96 not my 97.
