I'm looking at putting some braided/expandable wire loom on a harness and was curious about input on how to do the branches. Is it possible to have the branch come thought the side of loom (expanded around the branch to let it out of trunk) or does the trunk need to stop and start at every branch?

We use a fair amount of braided nylon sheathing at work over hoses/tubes. We don't have a ton of branches, but I would cut a slit in the sheathing, cauterize it (for lack of a better term) with a heat gun and run the hoses through. A lot depends on how big the sheathing is that you are using and how big of a hole you need to make to run the wires through (thinking of bulky connectors). I would throw a zip tie over the branch close to its base to retain it to the trunk to keep it in place.

I used the Summit racing braided loom, and it worked nice. I was able to cut a small hole, and then force bigger items thru it to make a snug fit. Also, slit where it made sense, then taped around any cut edges much like stock looms.

I took the old off a couple feet away a time and cleaned them replaced with new. That way it didn't become dozens of wires all over the place.

Punching a hole thru it from the inside out, with a heated phillips screwdriver works well, won't fray, then tape the different pieces together. Heat shrink with the meltable liner holds it together well, but is a pain to do; depends on your level of ocd. :)
