Blower motor control refurbish

Howdy y'all. BCM is rigged to run on high full time by grounding straight to body. I'm debating which fix to do: add a switch, buy a new module, or take mine apart and see what's up in there! Anyone have success replacing resistors or resoldering connections? Please enlighten me!
 
IME the wire between the control module and the motor itself gets flaky at the connection point. I've had to replace it on both the 97 and 98.
 
Get a one for a 4th gen Sable with auto climate control, plugs and plays just swap your brackets, the electronics inside are much more robust. When my stock one went out a few years ago I tried resoldering, reflowing with a heat gun etc with only temporary success before it would clonk out again.

So, your temp/climit control is a manual, but you used an auto climit control module to replace your module? I thought you had to use like on like, manual to manual module and auto to auto module?

No. My car originally came with manual climate control but since 2007ish has the full factory SATC, I swapped it all in from a donor car.

I had asked about this one time and the guy that was selling the climint control panel said you have to replace a bunch of parts to use an auto climit control. I would guess you had to add the bleed actuator and several other items. How hard was it? Did you have to pull the dash off or could you get to everything thorugh the center console and lunch box, ... er... glove box?

The entire dash harness needs to be swapped. For me my original dash pad had an ancient nokia car phone speaker tech screwed into it so it was junk, when I found the doner I just swapped the whole entire dash assembly in along with the blower controller and other auto bits like the interior sensor tube, vacuum lines and outside temp sensor from the same car.


I actually regret it to a small extent, the manual setup doesn’t have many failure points, whereas I’ve gone through two SATC heads and a blower controller (the resistor can fail on manual but it’s a universal part at least)

I do understand my friend. I have a Town Car that this winter, the bleed actuator went to shitz city for the year. I boutght a new one, but ripping out the dash is not something I ever wanted to do and swore I would sell the car first. I had a 89 Conti that I replaced the bleed door on. I was a much younger man then. I have always wanted to pull the engine and tranny from the town car and put it in the cougar. :P

I saw a really nice 60 'stang for sale this morning that was pretty much solid except the paint was dull. It would be perfect for the wife! Well... like the Cougar, it's really for me. LMAO

Thanks for the mental visual. You were lucky to have the whole assembly and could just swap them. That makes life a little simpler.
