Anybody here in NC? Just moved to the wake county area. Curious about what there is to do that’s car related.

  • Drive the mountains of NC - The Tail of the Dragon is in NC but there are plenty of other roads in the mountains that are amazing drives!
  • Hit up a Drag strip; there are like half a dozen scattered across the state.
  • Visit the NC AutoRacing Hall of fame in Mooresville, NC - AKA Race City USA.
  • Visit the NASCAR Hall of fame in downtown Charlotte and drive in the race simulators they have there.
  • Attend Cars & Coffee at the Charlotte Motor Speedway (Actually locate in Concord, NC)
  • Attend a Race School or Race Experience event at Charlotte Motor Speedway
  • Attend a NASCAR race at Charlotte Motor Speedway or an NHRA event at Zmax Dragway
  • Get your car modified by the Carolina Crew Chief RobertP in Carthage, NC. He's just south of you.
  • Meet the Trunk Monkey in Charlotte, NC. I'll be on the road for work for the next few weeks but it would be great to get together at some point.
  • Attend a Car Show: There are hundreds held across the state throughout the year.
  • There's other stuff to do but I'm not familiar with what's happening up in the Raleigh area.

So much listed lol I’ll have to create a checklist. Definitely gotta get together at some point .
 
Whereabouts in wake? I’m in Fuquay. There’s monthly cars n coffee in Morrisville, Cary & Clayton. The American legion in Fuquay does a car show about twice a year. There was an occasional cruise in in Fuquay, check out Facebook for cars n coffee.
 
I grew up in Wake county. No longer there anymore thankfully.

Is Ashworth Performance still there in the middle of Fuquay? Those guys got a lot of my money the last time I built an engine.

Physically still there, but I don't know anything about them and the building looks run down.
 
They were awesome in the 00s and early 10s. SBC guys by nature but they had a lot of Mopar expertise too. They helped me spec a 318 LA build for my old Ram and I bought all the parts from them. Ended up being a quarter mile riot. Hope they're still doing well.

What were their names? Got to know who to ask or look for.
 
Ashworth Performance in Fuquay-Varina. Their website is down so I wasn't sure if they are still in business.

I understand that. I thought that you might know or remember some of the names of some of the individuals that you worked with or corresponded with there.

Ah gotcha. Steve Ashworth was the owner and he was pretty active in the business. I can't remember the names of anyone else honestly. They were all solid though.

Not sure how much Ford expertise they had though. Their bread and butter was SBC builds for late models and dirt racers with a side of the classic Mopars for the street.
