Odd rubbing noise

It was noisy this morning, placing my hand on the IAC hose and the IAC itself I didn’t feel it resonating.
At lunch it was humming again, I unlatched the airbox and opened it ever so slightly, the noise practically went away. Shutting the airbox brought it right back. So definitely though the air intake.

If the air silencer is in place is it unobstructed? Is the air filter newish? No obstructions in the intake tube?

No silencer, newish filter. Will have to verify air tube

If all else fails, try putting the silencer back; I'm curious. Ford might have had multiple reasons for it.

This all reminds me of that phantom noise I had a couple of times last winter. It fixed itself though, so I couldn't say what it was.

Well I think the IAC has reached the point of failure; it’s an aftermarket and a few years old.
This morning it was resonating again; my RPMs were varying widely as the ac cycled.
Then pulling out of the driveway she stalled. I didn’t have time to troubleshoot, I grabbed my other vehicle and headed to work. I’m going to order a new IAC and change it out.

I replaced the IAC yesterday and upon initial start up no resonating. Test drive was good also. Will monitor and report back.

Still resonating intermittently. Ive recently changed the air filter and PCV, cleaning out the air box also. Not sure what the cause is and being very intermittent its difficult to troubleshoot.
