A few years ago when I redid my rear suspension, I replaced my fuel pump, some broken vac lines, filler neck, and also replaced the fuel cap with a new Motorcraft vented style. (I even tried my original cap)

Ever since then I can’t fully pull the gas pump trigger without it clicking off, I could only hold it maybe 3/4 of the way.

I didn’t want to pull the tank again after all that cause it’s a huge PITA.

So, this past winter when I did my trans swap, I replaced the vent valve on the tank, and double checked the lines, I even went and replaced my charcoal canister and purge valve and it still does the same thing.
Is there something I’m missing here??

Any chance the crossover hose is pinched? Otherwise you could find a different filler neck.

How quickly does it click? If it's super quick, is not as likely a venting problem as the air in the tank will compress for a while before showing flow. Does it seem to burp while filling?

On my 89 F150 I had to replace a tank.
There is fill tube inside the tank tube. The fuel enters the tank from the inner tube and air is forsed out the outter tube. If the inner tube is lose or not there the air will push fuel up and shut the pump off.
Ask me how I know,,, ya takes me a long time to fill that tank,,,🙄

About 2-5 seconds after fully pressing the trigger on the fuel pump, it doesn’t seem to burp at all.
If I pull the nozzle out a little, it seems to help, but I can still only squeeze it about 3/4 of the way.

I'd think that's too quick for it to be a venting issue.
