So, the 95 Town Car drinker side window motor started acting up then began stuttering and I knew what that meant. The plugs in the motor gear are in pieces. I take the door off and instead of drilling holes that I may or may not come close to the motor screws, I decided to replace the windows regulator as well. I bought one that was a close out back in 2021 that was for the front right window from RockAuto. I replaced the gear and plugs I recently bought for the motor and put every thing back together on the NEW regulator. It would not fit. I tried drilling a bigger hole on the bottom of the rail to allow some adjusting, but no dice. The windows would not go up all the way. I am thinking to myself, "check the part number on that regulator" knowing the history with RockAuto. Sure enough, the regulator is for a 95 Town Car BUT THE BACK right REAR window. For schitz sake. I also checked my order from back in 2021 and sure enough, it was listed as front right. I cleaned up the old regulator, re-lubed it and put it all back together.

I wrote RockAuto a nasty graham about how this happens more than it should and my first words in the letter were "I know you don't care, but...."

Thanks for letting me vent.

Okay, okay... I can honestly say they kinda screwed up again, but this time in my favor. I ordered 6 spark plugs from RockAuto and got 5. I did the whole "something is wrong with my order" thingy and reported one spark plug was missing.

They sent me 6 new spark plugs. Now i have 11. Is there an 11 cylinder engine out there? :p

I youtubed 11cylinder for fun last night and came across this neat channel

90° V8s, V12s, boxer 4 and 6 cylinders and inline 6s are the only internal combustion engines that sound any good, all else need heavily restrictive mufflers. Odd number engines are stupid and should be wiped from the face of the earth, including lawn mowers.

Radials on aircraft FTW :)

Later iterations of engines got more rows/layers, culminating in the likes of this type of engine:

Wikipedia said:
The Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major is an American 28-cylinder four-row radial piston aircraft engine designed and built during World War II. At 4,362.5 cu in (71.5 L), it is the largest-displacement aviation piston engine to be mass-produced in the United States, and at 4,300 hp (3,200 kW) the most powerful.

I do love the sound of a Pratt & Whitney radial on a B29...

Where... who... WTF? You can find the weirdest crap on YouTube!

Tell us how you REALLY feel XR7! :p

Anybody ever watch the NOVA show about the B29 "Kee Bird" that was marooned in 1947 on Greenland ice and was discovered again? Its a great story about the guys that spent so much of their time to try and revive the plane and all their hardships they went through to get it running and try to fly it out of Greenland.

I seem to recall at least one show about a plane being removed from ice WBW, I can't remember what it was though. Must have been 25 or so years ago.

Either the B29 or the P38. The B29, Kee Bird, fits the time frame though.

Every couple years either a B-17 or B-29 flies into the area and offers rides. Pricey, but it's still on my list!

I'm pretty sure I've showed both Trunk Monkey and MadMikeyL these when they visited, but I stumbled across a matched pair of art prints of B29s in a middle-of-nowhere antique store a few years ago. What made them special was that they were signed by the surviving crew (as of the early 90s) of the B-29s (Enola Gay and Bockscar) that ended the war. When I saw Paul Tibbets had signed the one in pencil, I knew they were coming home with me!

Edit: One of the set of these.

We used to have ta B-17 take people for rides during balloon fiesta, but I did not hear it this year. I did get pictures of it flying over the house a couple times. Can't find em'.

We also used to have two pilots that owned a P-51 and another WW2 fighter plane, I don't know what model, fly over our town. You always knew when it was them. The sound of this old engines cannot be duplicated with today's aircraft engines. Now, the current military is always flying C-130's and Osprey as well as Chinook helicopters (christ, they rattle the house when they go over) and other troop carrying helicopters over our neighborhood. We have a base south of us and a munitions post north of us they fly back and forth from.

Ok I’ll concede ye olde tyme aeroplane radial engines are pretty cool too lol
