Thunderbird Appreciation Day is especially significant this year as we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the iconic Thunderbird. It’s the perfect opportunity to honor seven decades of timeless design, innovation, and automotive passion. Take your classic Thunderbird out for a spin and let its beauty and legacy shine. Polish the chrome, buff the paint to perfection, and show it off as you cruise through town, take it on a picnic in a park, or join with other Thunderbirders at a local diner. Let the world see why the Thunderbird has remained a symbol of style and excellence for generations. Engage with people who stop and admirer your Thunderbird, share your car’s unique story, and maybe even let them sit in the car to give them a glimpse of what it is like to drive an automotive icon. This milestone year is about fostering appreciation, connecting with fellow enthusiasts, and inspiring the next wave of Thunderbird fans. Crank those engines, and let’s make this 70th anniversary a celebration to remember!

Well I guess I missed it! We did take the Thunderbird out for dinner Saturday night to celebrate my son's graduation though. As we were leaving the first restaurant (1.5 hour wait) I had a guy pull up behind me in the parking lot and roll down his window. "Duuuuuude, what year is that thing??!!!? That is nice!!" Mind you I haven't even had a chance to wash the rust proofing grime that collects on the rocker panels and it was overall not the cleanest. I think he said something to the effect that he used to have a red '99 four door(?). I got the impression he used to drive a Taurus. My man looked like he had definitely seem some stuff during his life, but he was nice enough. Wifus does get the occasional comment about it as she drives it around.

I was relaying to her on the way home, when my dad and I bought our '67 Biscayne in '90 or '91 it was less than 25 years old, but it felt like an old car. The Thunderbird is almost 30 years old, but it doesn't feel like an old car.
