Stumbled on a '08 4.6l 2v on marketplace for $850. I know I would have to swap my oil pan and pickup over and I believe I would have to change front cover to a '94-'95. Intake either swap w/ new ford one or just treat my npi as a pi head swap w/ rtv. I hear what I believe is the grinding of my chain guides (rolled over 371k yesterday) so it is time to repair or replace. At 850 I am interested in going pi.

You’d want to swap your existing timing cover, oil pan/pickup and valve covers to it. The 94-95 timing cover is only “necessary” with Explorer motors(though I recommend reusing it for superior oil filter placement reasons)

Dude, a cursory look at 2v engines in ga shows a bunch of engines much cheaper than 850. that's not a great deal. Gran marquis/crown vics that haven't been taxis or police cars are good, as are towncars. I paid 450 for an 04 towncar motor with 725 miles on it. Those will have a pi intake, truck intakes are long runner, and too tall for our hood.

He didn’t mention of it’s from a truck or car but I’m pretty sure by 08 the only applications that still used the 2V were Crown Vic’s and Econoline vans. F series was 3V by then

I could have sworn I read f150; my bad. My bil had a f150 4.6, and that intake was huge.

F150 is in the thread title, lol.

You read right it was an f150 donor. I knew the truck intake was worth nothing to me. Usually the $400 units are low grade for different reasons. The market place one had phot showing it in good condition and clean. The person claimed it was their mistake as not the correct application which I assume they wanted a 3v not 2. It was close by and I could pick it up rather than ship.

I assumed it was a different engine from the thread title, but now noticing it too said its 08 so I clearly made an ass of me lol

I genuinely thought the 2V was over in F150s after 2005, but maybe I'm thinking 5.4 2Vs... either way it doesnt chang anything, swap oil pan manifolds and intake manifold. I'm not sure if they were windsor or romeo by that , if they were then there's a case to be made for the 94-95 timing cover if you want to retain coil packs without any bracket mods

If you mention swapping in a 5.4... you're in luck, we haven't heard from kdanner in years, lol. so he won't reach out of your monitor, and drag you in. Probably.

Imo the only acceptable swap using a tall deck modular is a Shelby 5.8.

Would you extend the front clip, or the fenders? A Jaguar v12 would sound cool.

Cut the firewall like a civilized hackjob

Wouldnt that make it a midengine, lol. Shift the trans back, shorten the ds. That would even fix the weight distribution. :)

iirc, truck engines are windsor engines, so our valvecovers wont fit.
