Will Melling M340 oil pump work w/o changing pick-up tube?

So I purchased a m340 oil pump for my '04 5.4l excursion but never installed it as the cast tensioners will last w/o any trouble (140k miles and counting). I'm changing out guides, tensioners, chains and cam sprockets as 385k has been making a clicking noise for about a year and I can't take it anymore. I would like to slap this HV pump in but I saw somewhere say the pickup must be 15/16 not 13/16. Is this true? W8ll thicker oring seal it? I'm not pulling the engine and the factory k member will not allow me access to oil pan bolts so that's that. I don't want to buy another just because of 1/8 inch.

Won’t work, you’d need a high volume pickup tube to match, I don’t see a larger O ring being a good idea
