By chance, does anyone have an extra 7 spoke Cougar wheel around in good to excellent shape? Of the 4 I bought, one is off enough to cause vibration at high speeds. Already replaced the bearings and had Discount Tire balance them 3 times.

I thought I could get away with this bend, but after the drive to Phoenix proved to be more than either of us could tolerate, its time to get a replacement.

    Thanks.

Never mind, I found one on eBay for a reasonable price.

I would think any decent wheel repair guy should be able to fix that no problem. A couple of people at work had a mobile guy come out and fix their wheels. He had a whole enclosed trailer set up so he could work inside. It was pretty cool. There is probably someone/something similar in your neck of the woods. I think it would be worth getting that one repaired.

Dang, I did not know that could be worked out. Oh well, sale is final and on its way. And actually guys, I wanted to have a full size spare that uses a 7 spoke wheel and get rid of the dounut in my trunk.

Hmmm... I wonder if a full size 16" wheel / tire would fit in my trunk.... Hmmmm

Woah there cowboy.... that is NOT a Cougar.

A guy I worked with was dying to know if my Mark VII really had a spare tire under the hump in the trunk lid....

    Silly rabbit...

A full-size spare will sort of fit in that space but the floor cover won't come anywhere close to sitting flush anymore.

Wheel repair services usually go for about $150 or so per wheel.

This is great to know because I wante d to put my bent rim on a tire and put it in the spare space, but I was not sure if it would fit.

I paid $81 for a used rim, shipped. Almost half of what it would cost to straighten the bent one.

I took the Cougar to Costco to get the new wheel installed. Since I could not tell which wheel was the bent one, they checked all tires and went ahead and balanced them. THey said none of the wheels where bent or showed any signs of being bent. All I can do now is take it out for a spin at 85 and see what happens! Maybe I should try and get to 120 on my speedometer. :P

The agents did notice there was ample amounts of grease in the inside wheel of the right rear. I told them it was because the CV joint I put in had a boot seal that was out of line and leaked when I first drove it. When my back gets better, I am going to pull that rim, clean it and clean the CV and surrounding area, then try to ensure the CV boot is still on the shaft correctly. I miss working on my cars.
