91 Cougar LS 5.0 Teardown and Build

Lol. Take a sport shock assembly apart with strut tools, we can talk about 'hazards':) .
I've worked with 50yo dynamite; the springs were worse.
On the good side, if either of those go, someone else gets to clean the mess! :)

Was saving this for the meme thread but it’s on point here

I need one of those outfits!
Bet ordering that would make a list!
Lol.

My aunt Teen let me stay with her in the 80's. As part of a cleanup, I found a box of detonators, fulminate type. I mention the hazards, and she points to the leaking box of dynamite at my feet. Touching it made my heart pound. Nitroglycerin. Fuck.
I sent her and my mom out, as I looked over this box of 75yo old-school dynamite. The sticks on top were dry, all the NG was pooled in the bottom of the box. I carried the box out in the middle of a field, and set it on fire.
It was bought to get rid of a stump, when they built the house, ~1905.

Anyone know what this plug goes to? Please tell me it's for the digital dash. I had to remove the while damn dash today to get the brake switch for the cruise control into the interior. This poor dash has been in and "out" at least 4 times now.

And do these go in the passenger side rear fever over the fuel lines? Anyone have a picture of that by chance?

I have more done than this, but forgot to take more pictures. Hoping to load it up and bring it home this weekend. Will put the hood on it in my garage so I don't have to transport it.

Weird, it took me a bit to get it uploaded to YouTube as I had to transfer it to a format my phone could upload. My nephew welded the hangers on the exhaust tonight and then send me the vid. Must be a difference in his vs my phone.

Here's my YouTube channel with the 2 whole videos... https://youtube.com/@zep5.067?si=1JYSLtsGK8iy7Fn8 Maybe it works there?

It's just the one video we see.

The emblem on those center caps looks very familiar 😁
Did you get yours from Ukraine as well? Mine came from there a couple months after the war started.

Had someone on the old site that made me some with a maroon background to match my 30th anniversary emblems

Very nice! Is that the same trubendz exhaust you got with the weird bends? They don’t look nearly as bad there as I remember if so.

Love the look, I wouldn’t even bother with a hood with that mill 😆

Yep, they look better on the car. I didn't even get anywhere with a BBB claim. Decided I need to get the car going more than I need perfect exhaust.

hat looks good to me. I remember, that I need to look at the one I have forTalitha, still in box.

Found a loose plug wire after this, and that it was not charging. Turns out that I missed a wire to the alternator for the regulator.

After that, my nephew and I took it for a little spin. It runs pretty nice for basically no real world "learning" on the Holley. Excited to get it aligned tomorrow and have the shop look everything over for me.

Make sure you mark the LCA bolts/washers relative to the k member after it’s aligned, I’ve been hearing the AJEs can slip out of alignment there.

Looks gorgeous, it reminds me of mine but more sinister!

I remember reminding Dad he had a bundle of blasting caps in the rafters of the barn back in the early 90's and he was What? Yeah left from the last well that he and Grampa blasted granite out of. Yeah those that a D cell battery makes a big BOOM!. IDK what he did with them but the barn is gone too so?
