Had a cataract plucked from my left eye yesterday, so far so good! šŸ˜¬

Heading out shortly for the follow up appointment. Haven't seen this good out the eye for quite sometime.

Joe
Co-worker of mine had an eye surgery and had to lay face down for 3 days. Didn't work and now he has a bubble right in his vision path. Hope yours goes well!

It did, thanks! My neighbor had to go through the same thing years ago for a detached retina and he had the same problem. It eventually cleared up, slow process though.

Eventually I'll have the right eye done.

Thought I'd share a piece of junkyard advice about pricing.

Thing is, junkyard prices can be very decent or oddly expensive, because they have to make some sort of sense for all kinds of cars and trucks.

The junkyard in Virginia Beach lists a header panel at over $90!

Now here's the trick: when you get to the cash register, call the part whatever you're willing to pay for. The clerk says "What have you got?" Don't answer "Header panel." Instead, say "Bracket" or something more generic. If you're lucky, they'll ring you up at the price of whatever you call that thing you're buying.

I'm not saying you should cheat the junkyard...but in many cases, prices are just illogical. On some trucks or on a Crown Vic, a header panel is literally the painted front of the vehicle; then I could understand $90. But in our case, an unpainted plastic part, not so much.

Iā€™ve had good luck playing dumb and just letting them figure out the value of what it is I presented them, as if I just found it on the ground. (Oh and dirtying up a part with dirt also helps negotiating!) buy something else you appear more excited about than the actual filthy but valuable thing you just seemingly grabbed and theyā€™ll usually err on the side of ā€œtrimā€ or ā€œbracketā€ 9 times out of 10.

I have more advice but itā€™s outright thievery šŸ˜†

Glad to read that you're seeing better. My brother had both of his eyes done. He sees better than me now without glasses or contacts.

My mom had hers done in the 90's, and she hadn't seen that well in 50 years.

Recent events reminded me that I wanted to raise this question:
Why are the airbags in these cars so sensitive? My observation in junkyards has been that those MN12s with deployed airbags only had moderate front end damage. Yes, there had been a front end collision, usually with some hood deformation, but visually it didn't seem to warrant airbag deployment.

Iā€™d probably just chock it up to the system being fairly low tech, and itā€™s probably better to err on over sensitive than not sensitive enough to keep the lawyers happy.

The tbird eas much less damaged before I stomped my foot next to the safing sensor. I replaced both, the blue box and the bags from an AZ car.

LOL!! Wasn't me. I've had bad leg cramps the last two days, had to take flexoril and gabapentin, so I'm in bed. I'm typing this on a mouse/laptop that's connected to the 55" plasma tv in my MBR.
I'm growing new nerves in my brain, from what they told me. The process seems to be : Screaming in my sleep for morphine,(I have no painkillers now), tingling,cramping/jerking painfully, cramps from hell, just tingling, feeling swollen and sore, all good, and now working.
They told me it would stop, and I wouldn't heal after a month or so, but they obviously were wrong.
I would guess some one was moving some dope from a legal state.

That sounds like it sucks. I've been dealing with a kidney stone for 6 weeks. Finally went to a urologist and set a procedure for next Friday to go in and blast it. The last few days have sucked, but at least I got meds at the ER last night. Hope you get feeling better soon!

That really sucks, that pain is beyond hell. Good luck! Did they give you a stent?

That's to come next Friday. As much as the pain sucks I'm kind of hoping for it now (assuming it passes). At 7mm it's in the 50/50 range for passing, I guess. But it was 2/3 of the way to the kidney, so just hoping and praying it keeps moving. Can't say I want something going up the manhood backwards...

Iā€™ll say this having had 4 stents, the day it goes in stings like a motherfucker, with the silver lining being they usually put you under for it. Once itā€™s in though all that flank pain from the stone(or constriction in my case) is GONE.

Iā€™ll spare you the details on the removal, which is more psychologically traumatic than physically traumatic šŸ˜†

I feel for you guys. I had a problem with them 40 years ago; I turned out my linebacker physique couldnt deal with motorcycle racing, so I had to give it up.
John, the procedure isn't that bad now, they cath you with a huge tube, and run an ultrasonic probe thru it, and blow the stones into sand. Then you piss out the sand, and it's way less pain than surgical removal.
I passed one that was ~.25x.375, Using a combo of beer, quaaludes, and percodan, while sitting in a bathtub of warm water. It's a wonder I didn't drown, lol.
I' not sure i've ever felt as good as it coming out.
