I'm totally ignorant about this "style". Do they replace the rear with a live axle?
It's kind of made to make a street car look like a funny car, but still streetable. It was big back in the 80's. The problem was a lot of them were mostly show and not as much go. Kind of the original ricers if you think about it. Some were really just made to be trailered show cars instead of really driven which I find kind of annoying, but there were some cool cars built. After people got sick of that then the pro touring trend kind of kicked in where cars looked more like they were made for handling, but you still got a lot of the trailered show car only cars. I can appreciate a really nicely built show car in any style, but I like to drive my junk.

Yes. And even on cars that came with live axles from the factory it often involves something totally custom like a 4 link suspension many factory live axle cars didn’t come with.

It was really popular in the 80s-90s. I caught the tail end of those cars being popular as a kid seeing them at the local cruise nights.

I'm actually surprised as how well kept it as and how well done the stance is. I wouldn't do it, but cool none the less, except the bone stock motor with nos.

If someone is looking for old-style Bird mud flaps in white, a fellow has a set of the 80s-style ones up: NOS.

I can't promise, but based on my tests with the equivalent 80s black ones, they are the exact same size as the 90s black ones.s-l1600.jpg

FB Marketplace Twin Turbo Mark VIII- $6,500

This has a lot of “never buy someone else’s project” red flags

It looks sunburned a bit, but I can't tell because the pictures are horrible

This is Canadian dollars by the way, if I wasn’t already going to be getting a new to me car in the very near future (I’ll post it when the time comes) I would actually consider looking at it

"Asking $5,000 or best offer – Don’t lowball, but I’m reasonable" for a car that is "Not currently running – bring a trailer. Definitely a mechanic’s special or someone ready to invest the time."

The worst part is this guy's vote counts the same as mine and yours.

I have reached the point where I believe anyone who does one of these conversions should be locked up in the asylum.

I don't know how, but they make the Mark VIII look even worse than the Thunderbird conversions. The Mark VIII version looks like a Pinto hatchback.

That pile is not worth the time, "needs a whole rewire" yeah no that makes it worth about 1000 at best, why do people who do "custom" work always seem to do absolutely no maintenance? I guess that's why I'm a "car guy" but none of my cars look different, they all look bone stock cause I always do maintenance over anything else unlike social media where people do everything but and then wonder why their car isnt "reliable". Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

Around 10 years ago those were all over eBay for about the same price. They always were in various pre painted body colors. Always wondered why there were so many available. Assuming dealerships got rid of them and bulk buyers got a hold of them to resell

Looks like he might have an MK-VIII wheel on there too?

Not perfect, but very nice, and NO rust. I'll admit I'm not big on anniversary cars, but this one looks nice. I think it's the wheels that get me.
