It's about time to change the oil on the Mark VIII, and I heard that the FL500S could fit in place of the FL820S so it's a bit easier to get past the subframe and power steering. The thread size seems the same, but my main concern is does it have the same pressure for the drainback valve?

Per Bob is the oil guy no. Fl500 is 8 psi vs 16 psi on fl820. Filter area and efficiency is not as good either.

Wonderful, thanks. I have a WIX 51372XP laying around that is 22psi, would it be better to go up to that or just stick with an FL820S?

This is the oil filter I just used for my Gold Bird. 100 miles so far and no issues this far.

The old filter the PO used some super tiny filter that honestly surprised me. It looked like it was meant for my Honda.

Didn't someone have a thread dissecting filters? Did he make it over here?

That was a cool thread; you don't really believe about fram until you see it. Hopefully he'll see this and move his thread over here. It's his content.

TBH Darren it is a bit of a pain. When I was copying over all my threads that were most important to me, I had to go over there and copy and paste the text of each post and reupload the pictures. I went a (big) step further and inserted quotes for each of the replies to keep all the context in the thread, since I obviously can't post as other folks.
