Flux Core Welding

I've always had an admiration for guys who can weld. Props for taking the leap to learn.
I had to look at it this way:
It would cost me at least $125 an hour for someone to weld up my pipes.
The guy that said it would cost $500 to update my exhaust gave me pipe to practice on, so that was a win / win.
The first welder I picked up weighed way to much to make welding practical, so I took it back (un-opened) and exchanged it for the Titanium I have now at about half the weight. I am not a young many anymore...
I have the arm chaps, leather gloves, lots of old 100% cotton shirts and good work bench, practice is easy.

I say, if you can spare $150+ for a welder and materials, get one, watch a lot of YouTube and self help vidoes and give it a try. Or, rent a welder from a rental place and try-before-you-buy (invest) in welding. I have already saved several hundered on the Cougar by learning to do it myself.

Again, thanks guys for the support. I appreciate the moral backing that this can be done if you just try. My welds look like a 5 year old did them, but they are holding. I must have my settings correct because like Zep said, I don't have very much spatter, which is really nice and only blew a hole twice I think on the exhaust. I just throw a blob over it... :p

My old exhaust had way worse looking welds done by “professionals” at a muffler shop. I could absolutely be happy with those results where they’re basically invisible
