Just saw this great trailer for Ferrari

I can’t wait to see the casting choicesOh, I thought that this was going to be a thread about the BirdCats movie! Boy is my face red!
If I had the time, I'd make a documentary in Sacha Baron Cohen style about the VS fiasco.Oh, I thought that this was going to be a thread about the BirdCats movie! Boy is my face red!
Best movie last year: Triangle of Sadness. A satire about influencers.
Great movie this year: Paradise (Netflix). A thriller about a company trading life time between humans.
I thought this was a thread about MN12 sightings in movies.

Anyone see killers of the flower moon yet? Looks like an interesting premise but I’m a little soured on Scorsese after the Irishman, I don’t mind a long ass movie but not if it’s a meandering bore.
Two movies I recently watched:
Avatar 2 - might have been a spectacle at the theaters but it was basically a "colonizer brutality porn". I don't really remember it but it felt like Mel Gibson's The Patriot with blue people.
The Ballerina - Korean straight to Netflix is a by-the-numbers lady goes on a revenge/rampage movie. Apparently that's what netflix's algo says I enjoy (and they aren't entirely wrong), it was a pretty decently made movie visually but its not super memorable. Quick summary is small asian woman goes nuts exacting revenge on a group that drove her ballerina friend to suicide. Not as pure as "you killed my dog, I'm going to destroy everyone" but okay to watch (just don't count the # of rounds shot before reloads in some scenes).
Fun Observation: police in South Korea rock revolvers. REVOLVERS. Like its a small town Mayberry or the Wild west. This is a country where every male kid has to do 18-24 months of military service so they KNOW what real guns are like.... but so few are owned privately that they generally don't worry about criminals carrying firearms. In comparison, here in the US where police need to worry about gangbangers carrying DIY Glocks w/ giggle switches AND AR15s/AKs. I watched another korean series (My Name, similar to The Departed but with a woman) and korean gangs tend to get stabby with sushi knives vs breaking out in guns.
Lawnmower man came out when I was in High School. All my guy friends loved it. 30 years ago that was a crazy concept. For any movies I've seen this year, Natural Born Killers was my favorite. I don't particularly enjoy over the top violent movies, but I like how they
painted the media as the villain
The Final Countdown was pretty cool too. I like to think that
the whole entire purpose of the mission was to go back and rescue her dog and nothing else. I dont know. Time travel shit is very confusing.
The Lawnmower Man not so much. Fun! But awful. But fun. But terrible.
Now you gotta watch The Lawnmower ManFunny you mention the Matrix... just bought the BD combo pack to free up shelf space in the theater and upgrade from the Goodwill DVDs I bought years back. I didn't spring for UHD because of the 400% price premium over regular BDs. I know Grog said the VFX for the BDs didn't look great when he saw them; maybe they redid them. Guess I'll find out!
Now you gotta watch The Lawnmower Man
My first blueray experience was watching the original Rambo for the first time. Unlike the other rambo movies, that was great. It's cool that all the old movies were naturally shot in high definition
The original Rambo is one of my favorite movies! I wish they had left the original ending though!
In the original ending, Rambo and Troutman talk in the gun store that he is holed up in, and both come to realize that Rambo will never be able to live a normal life, and so Rambo asks Troutman to kill him, since he would rather die at the hands of a soldier that he respects, then Troutman shoots him. It is such a gut-punch after routing for him the whole movie, but the more you think about it, the more sense it makes that that is the only sensible way to end it. Plus since it was really meant to be an anti-war movie, the original ending fits that theme much better. In the last 15 years there's been like 5 movies worth seeing
He dies in the original ending, right? I love that movie too, none of the others interest me

It's worth the watch, a lot of people immediately dislike soundtrack but if you can get past it, or don't mind Wang Chung, it's a really good movie through and through, the car chase ends up even better in the context to the rest of the plot.I’ve never actually seen “To live and die in LA. I’ve watched the car chase on YouTube, but I’ll have to put that one on my list.
The book of First Blood is very different from the movie. In the book, Rambo gets killed by Teasle, who in the book is a Korean War vet, but also Teasle is a much more sympathetic character in the book, and Rambo is much less sympathetic.

I liked the 2008 Rambo movie. I thought that one was pretty well done.

For sure! I was looking into IMAX when Oppenheimer came out. Did you know that 70mm IMAX film is equivalent to 18K resolution?!
