P1443 Code

Hey fellas, I had this code pop up on my '96 T-Bird a couple days ago and my code reader just said "manufacturer control". It's never popped a code since I've owned it and never had that code pop up on the previous '94,'95 and '97 Birds I've owned over the years. Any ideas?

P1443 is for a lack of detected evap purge flow. This could be a a busted or sticky purge flow solenoid which doesn't open - it's in the passenger inner fender under the headlight, or it could be a vacuum leak in the lines between the canister and the manifold. Less commonly it's the purge flow sensor.

I'd start by checking for vacuum leaks/replacing the tubing and testing the solenoid before replacing it - easy to do with a couple pieces of wire hooked up to the battery.

That's where I'll start then! It might have had something to do with when I pulled out onto the road the other day and floored it to speed up. It came on shortly after that... lol
