Q: What are you watching (TV/Streaming/Movies) and want to recommend?

Watching Chernobyl on HBO, been wanting to see it since it first aired so no spoilers!

Seems like a lot of egghead scientists overblowing things in EP1. Have some faith guys, jeez! It’s just a little sunburn!

it's not too bad;It still amazes me how badly designed it was. 'Prompt critical' Is not good in a reactor.

I’m about halfway through and it watches pretty good, I knew a little about the disaster going in from documentaries and articles over the years to spot some dramatic license(like the helicopter crashing from flying too close to the open reactor vs hitting a crane IRL), but it tells the story well.

I tried to watch “One battle after another “ after 10-15 mins I grew bored, and then kinda watched it on fast forward but gave up altogether. Just not for me.

Fun fact: At the very beginning of the film they have a green mn12 Thunderbird. Honestly I only watched as long as i did to see if I could see the car again.

Me too, only other movie I watched the whole thing of to see a MN12 in action was Jade…. I should have just been satisfied with the YouTube clip 😆

I looked it up. Did not expect that LOL what da hell.

There's one in front of the motel for the movie Memento. Another tease, partial shot, no driving.

Is there a movie with decent exposure, like actual driving? I recall Mulholland Drive was mentioned, I should watch that.

Still working through Peaky Blinders. On Season 3 episode 4. This series is fantastic. I can’t recommend highly enough.

I'm still working through King of the Hill on Disney+ / Hulu.

Though, it might take a slight pause for a temporary switch to watch Fallout on Amazon.

Finished Chernobyl… So I’d say it’s decent; 6/10, I expected it would be longer tbh, for just 5 episodes I think they could have just edited it down into a movie. I was really expecting they’d show the Elephant’ foot or containment structure construction since that’s what I think a lot of people like myself are casually aware of, but instead it wrapping up with a very Hollywood court scene and forced character arc that I seriously doubt happened left me pretty soured. Had great visuals and acting though, just seems a little wasted.

Currently, resuming one battle after another where I left off, and hey! I finally found the other Tbird in it! Just like I thought from the trailer it’s a red 90 SC with a black interior. Shows up about a hour in. You can see the VMM lights and early autodimming rear view mirror in this scene, shows up an hour in. No exterior shots yet so now that I know it’s there I’ll tough it out and finish it 😆

Leo spills a bunch of that piss water in it, annoyingly

Edit: Hmm, maybe it is a 91-92, 89-90s just have a standalone moonroof switch, this one has the one with dome lights seen to 97s. The seat perforations are 90-92 spacing though, so not a 93

(I stopped following the plot at this point lol)

I now actually recommend toughing it out, I checked out like you did on my first viewing attempt but once it flashes forward to present day it gets a lot better.

I actually sat through the entire movie. I'd say it isn't horrible, but it took way too long to develop all of the story lines. I definitely expected more based on the trailers.

Frankly I think the first 45 minutes could be skipped entirely and it wouldn’t be confusing in the slightest, pick it up from the bank onwards. The movie isn’t that complicated, I think I went in expecting it would be like a Scorsese or Tarantino flick with the run time and the first hour of exposition but after that it’s basically just a road thriller like Black Dog.

LOL I will give it another try this weekend.

So I just found it streaming free on the Roku channel, but I saw it before when it aired on AMC and loved it the first time I watched it; The Terror. I remembered it watching Chernobyl last week which also starred Jared Harris, but this was much longer with an equally interesting true story at its basis but in this case featuring a heavily fictionalized horror element…(which IRL it was anyway).

It’s based on the doomed Franklin expedition to find the northwest passage. The acting is superb, the true elements are really true (lead poisoning, mutany and cannibalism) and the made up shit is at least interesting(though I’ll admit the CGI is a little video gamey).

If you’re into maritime disasters as I am and want to see others suffer worse fates in the brutal winter, this is the show for you.

Also it’s season 1. The show’s named the Terror as a double entendre for the ship’s name. Season two is about internment camps or something and ludicrously boring, if that’s what you find don’t bother, it’s shit.
