SVO blower HELP!

Maybe a stupid question, but how is the power? Does it feel like it is making more? Have you verified the boost reading with another gauge?
I tested the gauge with a bicycle pump, and it’s working. I also swapped in the T45 at the same time, so it does seem quicker. I can’t tell which made it faster. 😅

Couple of threads on M90s. Might be worth checking out. Sounds like similar failure modes for both. Maybe they screwed something up when they swapped the snout to the proper orientation? Neibert has some good input in the first thread.

I think that’s the problem, EGR is upstream of the rotors, for the gauge to see boost it should be downstream. Try plugging the gauge into the port you’ve got the the actuator/FPR plumbed to.
Nice catch. I didn't realize the EGR was before the blower. On a Mustang forum a guy had a similar issue. One of the responders said they connected to this red circled port below for a proper reading.

I wonder, would adding an intercooler to the intake ( filter- intercooler- throttle body) have any effect on the IAT?? I know turbos and Centris blow through it but would sucking through one cool down the air?? Random thought.

Also, is the blower rebuilt?? Maybe it’s just old and not sealing correctly??

No. So long as the intake isn’t picking up hot engine compartment air an intercooler in the low pressure intake tract will not further cool the air. Intercoolers a use ambient air spread across a large surface area to relatively cool pressurized(heated) air from the SC or Turbo, they’re not magic devices whose very presence just makes them cool air in general, for them to work the way you’re positing they’d essentially need to be combined with an AC evaporator that actually reduces temperature from ambient

Methanol injection is your cooling friend.

Makes sense, I know the STI, atleast the blob eye had a button that sprayed water across the intercooler. My buddy has an 04’ and the water tank is in the rear. The button no longer works since he went with a front mount cooler tho.

The guys from roadkill put nitrous Str8 off the bottle to their radiator to keep the car cool since it kept heating up. Forgot which episode tho.

If i was somehow able to find one of these and afford it could i slap it on my 97? Ill assume it would need tuned

So long you can find the kit, yeah. If it's just the blower than you'll need to make the relocation brakes for the alternator and cut the DS coil pack/power steering reservoir bracket to clear the belt. Also youll need to cut the stock the engine harness out of it's wrapping and re route it for some things.

That, new upper rad hose, 30lb injectors, and a tune.

Still sounds easier than an ebay turbo kit. lol

I think if i was able to find one it would cost me a fortune though

In your case, a FMIC piped between the centri and throttle body would significantly reduce IATs. The heat is generated from compressing air ( upwards of 400 degrees F )

That’s pretty cool, I heard having a 50/50 mix might mess up your engine tho. It’s never a good thing to have water in your engine. I’ve read some guys rust inside of the engine.

What are common power numbers people get with this blower??

Dang, that’s kinda low but I’m assuming it’s making a shit load more torque.

With the v3 I’m running it feels stock til about 3500rpm+ which is also kinda wack. I’d upgrade the stock 3.23 gears out back but I rather like the highway RPM. I’d like to do a 6r swap soon. Happy medium.

Going from 170ish WHP stock to 310 is a nice healthy 140 HP gain. 👍

I bet it’s a lot more peppy on the street, down low the 4.6 is a dog low key. The super restrictive NPI aren’t doing any favors either.

SVOs make very conservative boost with the stock pulley, which was probably why they weren’t huge sellers for FRPP when they were new and why for a while they could be had for bargain prices before guys upped the boost with meth injection, they have a ton of potential.

Centrifugal superchargers like Vortech and Paxton behave way differently than positive displacement, the best way to describe it is a roots makes a 4.6 drive more like a big block and a centrifugal makes it more like a a high revving small block.

Npi heads flow almost the same as PIs really it’s all in the cams and intake

310 to the wheels is likely 375 or so to the crank on an automatic car. We didn't get sports cars with that until the coyotes second version. And the mustang weighs as much as tbird now. That's a pretty fun car too most people. I hate how easy it is to reach 1000hp now days if you can throw another $10k on a Mustang or Camaro. It's all over YouTube, etc. In reality there aren't many of those cars around

And in reality what is that 1,000 horsepower used for by YouTubers to get clicks? Burnouts and doughnuts you could do with 310rwhp.

This hobby is full of so much piss stream measuring snobbery I just stopped giving a fuck about stats and numbers. The same peanut gallery commenters on YT who gush over factory ratings will roll their eyes at anyone who has a modified engine who doesn’t state their dyno proven wheel horsepower… guess what, stock hellcats don’t actually make 707 horsepower either dudebro! 😆

I can go on…. Ok I will. Turbo LSx world, “omg did you guys see what cleetismcdoofus built? Omg!” For every high profile “budget” build on the internet there’s a dozen real life builds emulating it that run 14-12 second ETs a moderately built small block could without a hideous exhaust system exiting into the passengers face.

God I hate car culture. Build what YOU like.
