The official what’s your favorite car(s) RIGHT NOW thread(besides MN12s!!!)

Matt, one of my buddies had a '74 white Eldorado Vert, with white leather interior. Awesome car, seatbelts for 6. And Ashtrays. And Cigarette lighters in each ashtray, lol. We used to all pile in and go to the movies and Rock and Roll Bowling, a radio station thing, back in the late 80's. Dudes GF didn't drink, so we had a blast.

Few Brit picks. I’ve been seeing this newer model Aston Martin Vantage every single day on my commute at a nearby (and kinda shady) used car lot. I keep meaning to stop and get better pics of the absurdity of it being surrounded by Sentras and Altimas but I also intrinsically am repulsed by used car salesmen and in fear of getting mauled by Dobermans of which I suspect will be likely. But I’ll try soon!

But it won’t be in this thread because I think it’s the ugliest Aston Martin since the Lagonda… it just reminded me of the actual pretty Aston’s of yore, and for me it’s the DB9

Never saw any of these in shady used car lots like today’s plastic trash

I mean, it's special and all. But A. the pre-facelift Testarossa looked better in my opinion, and B. a black interior in a Ferrari is just plain wrong.

I generally think the first design before midcycle facelifts is the best design (yes MN12s included) but the 512TR is one of my exceptions, I like the 348 looking nose way more, the body colored lower body trim looks way nicer than the black plastic and I like the wheels a lot. I’ve heard they’re much better to drive and live with than the Testarossa too.

512M on the other hand… 💩

I also prefer the 512 TR over the Testarossa. I also can't get over how the earlier model years of the Testarossa only came with a ridiculously high driver's side mirror.

I'm not sure what happened with the F512 M design-wise. In theory, it should have been okay, but I guess those headlights and taillights didn't mesh well with the older body, and the entire front end was executed differently than the F40, where it just works. On the F512 M, this happened:

The rear fascia with the round taillights uncovered by the horizontal slats also looks out of place.

I can’t help but think the 512m would have looked much better had they kept the old hood and popup headlights and had round taillights inside the old black louvers in place of the rectangular ones, or even rather than inside the old louvers keeping the Testarossa/TR theme, replace the louvers with mesh with the round taillights outside like the F40/50. I don’t know if it would look that much better but the body colored filler pieces in the real one give it a really unfortunate kit car vibe(as do the crude headlights!!!) the whole car looks both rushed and overthought at the same time.

But yeah I think the 512TR nailed it, The Testarossa was inherently destined to be a dated 80s design, but with really modest changes the TR actually managed to look contemporary among 90s supercars

Coolest chevy I never heard of:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarab_Mark_I_and_Scarab_Mark_II
Shelby won in one before building the GT40.

Moved to this thread as it’s appropriate (plus it needs a bump). Admittedly my knowledge of vintage racing is limited before the 60s(and really in general) but what I do know is Shelby approached Chevrolet FIRST for the V8 supplier for what would become the Cobra before Ford ultimately obliged, and given his then experience with the Chevy powered Scarab that makes total sense.

Guy I worked with had a Roush Mustang for a bit, after I blew his doors off in Lazarus in his old95 gt. Lazarus was running a lonnie tune then; IRS mn12 vs straight axle mustang thru bitchin' curves, lol. He got Caroll Shelby to sign the dash, and I was looking for when he died.

If the road is smooth a well controlled solid axle can actually perform as good as IRS in the handling department, I think these cars don’t get enough credit for the front suspension design, even though we all have our beefs with the strut rod bushings and the limited availability of shocks for it it’s a superb SLA design with perfect geometry, that’s the real win compared to the mutilated macpherson strut setup of the Fox/SN95s. IRS Cobras don’t handle all that much better than live axle GTs or Mach 1s

Lazarus was and is running konis. :) and has the handling package and locker. I remember him bitching about seeing my suspension in the rear articulating, lol. I could NOT catch the roush, lol.
I have a set of sport shocks for the red one I got from chris murder, and mustang vert koni's for the rear.

Have any spares? I’ll trade ya a sport wing for a rebuildable pair 🤣

I had the last set of nos sports, in boxes, but the pos ex friend stole them after I was crippled by a stroke.
I had promised them to brandon. Dude also stole $20k of my stuff, and about that in tools from my BIL, who was in hospice.
I'm not crippled now; that's all I'll say.

This would have had a better ending if you stated you're no longer crippled, but he magically was😆
