The Unofficial "Ask a Stupid Question" Thread

Any idea if they make them flat? I want to use the sticker on the center piece of the new steering wheel I just installed on my Turbo Coupe.

I'm afraid I don't know. Mine are rounded at the edge, as you can see in the photo and as the other poster mentioned. I suspect it would be easy enough to check with them: while they're foreign, their website seems to indicate a decent command of English.

Your car looks great, by the way. After I get my 97 fixed up I want to hunt down an 88 TC.

Is this too thin of a sidewall for the donor bodies?

Met with the machinist and he didn't feel comfortable with how thin they were, but I gave him the green light to continue. The beauty of this, is that when this is done the inserts will be able to slide in and out making this serviceable.

Do you have the top mounts already?? I have a set modified I never got to use.

Yeah, I have everything ready to go.

Still debating on powder coat or rattle can for the bodies after I get them back from the machine shop.

Q: Does "lowest setting" here mean "0" or "25"?

Because my 3/8" and 1/4" sets both specifically state a storage setting.

And yes, I know my nails are long 😅

I always store mine at the lowest setting in the specified range, for instance, I have one that's rated at 50-250 ft lbs so I store it at 50 as its the lowest specified setting, even though the scale on the handle goes lower, I dont want to go lower than what it says it can do. I have one thats 5-200 ft lbs so I store that at 5, it seems to have worked well for me.

I’ve never noticed that note before nor have I adjusted after use. I’ve always just put mine away at whatever setting I used. I need to change my ways.

You back it off for the same reason you don't store magazines full; it ages the springs. I only load 30 round mags with 28 rounds, unless I'm emptying hem now.

Another wiper question: is there supposed to be a key to line up the wiper arms? I removed mine recently and while there are slots for a key, there was no key.

Mine are missing, it makes it a little more challenging to line up.
Any source for them outside of good luck and a junk yard?

Mine doesn’t have alignment tabs/keys either, never did.

I’m thinking the release tab might just be stuck, there should be ample room to pull the wiper up with the hood up. I’d try prying it with a flat blade

Just treat the windshield with Rain-X and call it a day.
I was told yrs ago by a co-worker to apply rain x twice and use the electric polisher to clean haze from second coat. Swears it will last months. I never went to that trouble.

Anyone happen to know the stock diameter of the exhaust hangers off the transmission mount? 3/8” or 1/2”?
