I didn’t want to say it outright, presenting the true option, but that is the right conclusion.

I also lack all of those, my alignment guy is Mr. bubble level and tape measure 😆

I have used and abused the shit out of that for my Honda and T-Bird. The Taurus, I don't think I got my money's worth out of it before it was totaled.

When I replaced the suspension on the GLI, I tagged the camber bolts with yellow spray paint.
 
The really good shop I used to go to, before they were bought out, Walter told me he loved these cars because they were so easy to work on.
I had a trans put in, driveshaft,diff,and fuel pump put in,and an allignment, and not only did he set it up using the numbers I gave him from the article, because I showed the easy way to do it all, he only charged me actual time instead of book time.
(Drop diff,yank ds,yank trans, drop tank,change pump,put in new trans,put in ds,put in new diff, align.)
Dude charged me $350 for all that. RIP,Walter. He said later he overcharged me by accident,shop time was only $85 an hour,and it only took 2 hours. :) I told him to consider any extra a tip. :) That would've taken me all weekend.

At least the last time I looked into Firestone's Liftetime Alignment anit anymore, at least around me they only do it like 3 times and that is the sum total of the the "lifetime" now. Though yes it used to be forever as long as parts weren't changed.
 
How's the weather out your way today? We're supposed to get 4" of snow later, when it gets here. 4" won't sound like much to most of y'all, but here,it will litter the ditches with morons in 4wd's
 
68 is what we set the heat to over the winter. 😅

It was hovering between 9 and 10 degrees last night, with about 8" of snow on the ground and another 2-3 on the way tonight. The western basin of Lake Erie has iced over now too. 🥶
 
We're getting 4", I drove Lazarus in weather like that several times,no prob, but I'm not the average tn driver,lol. I used to tow my buddy across town on my dirtbike,with him on his sled,lol. We got pulled over once,lol. It's not easy to do, dude being towed can yank the bike around,if he hits a curb,lol. I almost got arrested for doing donuts on the frozen marina,once.

Right now isn't coming down hard here and its real quite at work, with only 5 of us here right now. Hence all my posts this morning, can only do so much with out people here.

I used to have a lifetime alignment on my old Saturn wagon. I haven't had one since. They did fine with them I suppose. I think back then it was $129. They did limit it to I think 6 months and 12k mile intervals, but other than that it was good for as long as you owned the car. I just take my cars to a local shop nowadays. I don't have the patience to set up strings and measure everything to do it on my own. It would be nice to have some better DIY alignment tools though.

Officially, it's still a lifetime deal. Some stores may have peckerhead managers that don't honor it, but the paperwork for the most recent one I bought last year was still the same deal as always.
 
Anyone know the exact diameter of the 4.6 crank snout?
 
Yes, that diameter should be 1.250" on the Ford 4.6.

Read those reviews on Summit's site though. Sounds like a lot of people didn't really care for this one.
 
Are FCS automotive brand parts junk? I feel like I heard on here at some point that the parts are cheap (quality). Just curious as they have front struts for my car but I don't know. I remember when you guys helped me determine that Blue streak Hygrade motor brand stuff is good back when I had the rough running debacle and needed a cap and rotor.
 
I've been pondering too much this weekend and have another question. How hard is it to swap a manual (an M5R2) into an auto car? Like I know it would be quite a bit of work but how much custom fab work (which I deem much harder) is there to get it to work? Is it even possible?

Automatics don’t use a flywheel, they use a flexplate, so you’d need a flywheel for a 89-95 3.8 SC Tbird.

All MN12s have the drill templates(dimples) for the SC clutch pedal/master stamped into the firewall. You have to drill them out yourself but they are there.

Anything for a SC 5 speed is a 100% bolt on for a regular 3.8 car, in fact in Mexico base model non-SC 3.8s came standard with the M5R2 using all factory equipment.
 
How were you planning on sourcing parts for this swap ?

The swap itself is fairly straight forward; but there may be some parts you'll want to rebuild or replace .. depending on what kind of build budget you have to work with.
 
This is just a very early thought experiment more than anything, just to see what I would need and think about it. If I were to go ahead with it I would probably source a good sc manual from a junkyard and then take it to a shop to have rebuilt and then replace parts that need replacing, like clutch master etc. again, just a thought cause I think a manual 3.8 would be pretty cool
