Thinking about getting this 97

Dump $1,000 into my Honda and give it another 400k.

Sounds like the most economical solution .. keep that spreadsheet mentality going.

The escalation of my 25yr old Accord to a 2025 Civic was compliments of @dDUBb

Don't make me out to be the bad guy for alternate suggestions.

You bought a good find! From the pictures it looks very clean and well kept. My critiquing of it earlier on was just to be completely honest with how I am critical, if considering buying it myself.
It looks really nice; I'd be tempted to buy one like that if found it for sale nearby... But I'm still holding out for my next fun car to be a Mark VIII or a SC300 :birdbang

Thanks @Kenz , @Jae 'Bird , @MadMikeyL , @Kidd-7 , @Irv , @gunn , @Trunk Monkey , @dDUBb , @theterminator93 , @1997ThunderbirdLXV6 , and anyone else I may have forgotten!

The drive home was very smooth and quiet for sure. However, there was the persistent "tu tu tu tu tu" whilst driving which I attributed to the flat spots previously mentioned. That said, until the new tires are installed, I won't be driving this car for safety concerns.

I've already ordered tires for it - Firestone All Season - and they'll be here on the 14th. So I have until then to get the 16" sport wheels I've "borrowed" from Pearl cleaned up and painted before installing these new tires. I also have brake pads all around in my RA shopping cart ready to go as well as PI intake manifold gaskets, brake pads, and a serpentine belt. From the parts store, I will be purchasing coolant, brake fluid, motor oil, oil filter, and PS fluid. I'm in contact with a guy on FB marketplace for an intake manifold from a 2000 Mustang which I plan on using for the install. With all those maintenance items complete, she'll be a good and reliable driver for the foreseeable future.

Are there any items I'm missing on this that I should look over?

EDIT: Grammar

Is the intake the original off the 2000 Mustang? If so it’s also all plastic and no better that what you got other being PI(that’s good), but without an aluminum crossover(that’s bad). Ford didn’t put the aluminum crossovers into standard production until 01, until then all mass production cars got the terrible all plastic intakes.

That's a great list, the only other thing I would personally do, is get your favorite concentrated fuel injector cleaner and when you get to a half-tank or below, dump it in and fill up with premium and run it through, It always makes me feel better about the cleanliness of the injectors then, my personal favorite is Gumout Multi-System Tune-up, it contains PEA which is generally considered the best at breaking down carbon to keep the piston clean as well, just my 2¢.

Oh and check the pressure on the spare tire, its usually low

@Jae 'Bird I know it needs the aluminum crossover. Here's the listing. AFAIK it is a PI intake and not a Dorman unit.

So good looking! I'd be so happy to see it on the road

was this reply meant for @XR7-4.6 ? I just mentioned injector cleaner that's all.

1000% that’s a Dorman

NVM, I see the Dorman markings after zooming in.

Unless you do supporting mods the benefits of the PI intake are little to none. IMO with the stock transmission shifting at like 4500rpm its a waste of time.
Like Mike said above, for a daily driver an OEM style replacement is the best choice

How do you know? What's the giveaway?

The runner layout is the dead giveaway for me, they don’t look anything alike. The real deal Ford PI intake(not the current Ford Racing POS) has crisscrossing runners, no holes into the valley and no webbing, it’s also one single mold, not 2-3 separate ones bonded together

This is how real ones look

So I should just look at getting the Dorman as the replacement since this is going to be a stock car?

If not Dorman, then what brand aftermarket replacement should I look into?

If you zoom in on the picture from the link I put up, you can see that it has the Dorman markings as well, another dead giveaway.

Yeah a Dorman would be perfectly fine as a stock replacement, just stick with the npi type though. There’s only one manufacturer who makes these intakes, other brands might stick their name on them but they’re all Dormans

Done deal. Making my purchase at this moment on RA.

I got a closed vane WP too, lol.

So you're saying that it doesn't matter what brand I get because it's a Dorman unit at the end of the day?

Now I'm just being cheap for not wanting to spend $190-ish (shipped) from RA on an intake. Looking at FB marketplace and OfferUp for intakes, lol.

Based on images, it looks like there may be two manufacturers. One looks closer to the OEM part. The other has the more flowing Dorman runners. They will all probably perform the same. I can't speak to quality differences. I'd probably go with the cheapest one with the longest warranty that sounds like the company may still exist if/when it fails.

Look like the jungle site has one for 105$

Thanks for the insight! Just placed my order for this exact unit!

They’re both Dorman, the one with the more OEM like runners was the OLD Dorman mold, several years ago they redesigned it with the more symmetrical runners you see today
