I honestly don't hate it. At least it isn't in a junkyard. I do dislike that red iron oxide primer. Looks like the Adobe car to me, but I that can be remedied.

Price seems pretty not bad and it is a pearl Cougar so you can't really go wrong. Mileage doesn't matter to me as long as it isn't rusty.

I thought you would rub my nose in the fact that I've been pondering options of 90s two-toning. Which, incidentally, this car displays the specific problem with the 96/97 bumpers: No molded line at the height of the side cladding upper edge, and this owner simply painted to the upper edge of the bumper... It looks bad.

I don't hate the blacked-out grille cowl though.
 
My first car was an 88 celebrity...paid $2k for it in 95 with 80k on it. It had the 2.8 v6 and the same blue interior but blue exterior...definitely brings back some memories...still kinda miss it...I always wanted to make a pro street style drag car out of one...why? Because I never saw anyone else do it...would always see Berettas. cavaliers and luminas but never a celebrity...

My sister had a 90 cavalier z24 with the 2.8. I thought it sounded so racecar even thought it was not fast. I was young and dumb, but it was cool.

The 2.8 has an oddly appealing exhaust note, it’s the only V6 I’ve ever heard that actually does sound V8ish… not hot V8 but more so old work truck with a smogger 305…

Honestly those 2.8 A body GMs(Chevy olds Pontiac, they’re all the same) kind of appeal to me as a daily lately. They’re adequate in power, dead reliable (the only thing that kills them is rust), and the styling is the antithesis of current trends which is a major 👍 That said I won’t pay more than $850 for one lol
 
The 2.8 was a great engine. In the early 2000s I had a Fiero with that engine. It loved to rev up to 6k, and sounded really good doing it. Back then I felt like I was driving a Ferrari. Good times :LOL:

I'm not saying I wouldn't drive one, because I totally would. I was looking at GM A-body wagons before I found my LTD wagon, but I'm not paying $8.5k for one. It was a few years ago, but people had a hard time selling even very nice examples back then for not a lot of money.

I noticed that as well maybe it has new springs for a 351m/400 car rather than a 302 but maybe I’m weird but it looks better to me. In stock form the term “beached whale” comes to mind.
 
Better than I expected, I didn’t think it would get much beyond $5k
 
It's a good looking car, and I'm sure it moves out well, but no reason they took off A/C and swapped to an automatic. It's no where near that fast. If it was put back to manual with A/C I think it could fetch that price.

AOD swap at that 😕

That car in its specs gives me the strong impression it was built up in the early-mid 2000s and is fast for the standard of the time, but truly fast SCs moved on from M90/MPX land and don’t need so many creature comfort sacrifices. It’s cool but for a car I’d be redoing/undoing half of the mod sheet the price is a little high


Does that gauge pack include an altimeter? 😆
 
This could actually be a pretty good car. I think he is a little high on price, but not too terrible in this market. Of course this all banks on his "no rust" assessment being accurate. Check out picture #6. Are those the adjustable Illumina's? Could be the last new set in existence.

Yeah those are the adjustable Illumina IIs. I’d say it’s overpriced for a SC if you’re new to the world, but man if you have a hoard of spare parts like we do that could be made mostly right pretty easy, making it quite reasonable
