Cleaning Battery terminal with water?

I saw this video and wanted to know your opinion. I usually use baking soda on mine but hot water is a easy fix.

While it gets the heavy stuff off, is it really getting into the connection to clean that up. I'd still take the connection off and use a wire brush, but maybe I'm old...
