In all seriousness though, is this volatility really a good thing? Or will we better off after the "dust settles"?
The volatility is a good thing - if you know what’s coming and you can play it (insider trading) cough, cough.
The volatility is a good thing if you’re looking for attractive entry or addition points or want to make short term trades.
The volatility is a bad thing in that it’s self inflicted.
The volatility is a bad thing as the market hates uncertainty
The volatility is a bad thing if you don’t have the stomach for these wild swings. i.e. fear, greed, and impulsive decisions making.
The “dust” won’t settle until the dotard (you know who) puts down the firehose of Chaos, is removed or chokes on a McDonalds cheese burger and some degree of normalcy returns.
Will we be better off after the dust settles? Well, IMHO we’ll be better off when some degree of normalcy and predictability returns. But really, nothing about the market even in the most “normal” of times is predictable.
Just look for solid companies and good entry points into them and hold on for the ride!
