Injector orings

I get gas fumes in the car at different times. Sometimes when it's hot or been run hard.
Everything looks good except there appears to be a little sweating around an injector or 2. This winter I plan to replace all the orings on them.
Is there anyone with knowledge as to best to buy or install tricks?

I've bought rebuilt kits off Amazon & eBay with good success. A drywall screw works to pull the screen out. Amazon has a plastic adapter to place on top of a can of carb cleaner to attach the injector to and clean. You'll need a 12v source wired with a button to exercise the injector, make sure you keep it closed and under pressure to check for any leaking as well as run the carb cleaner through it while open to actually clean it. I recommend cleaning the injector w/o the screen at first in case you get a leaky one, that way you don't waste a new screen on a bad injector.

Sidebar I need to replace the injectors on one of my Ex's soon and should have some extra orange injectors after that project, if you need to replace any.

It isn't too hard to pull the fuel rail off to get to them. I don't really have any tricks. The O-Rings are just O-Rings. You can get a set from Fel-Pro, but this is one part where it is hard even for a cheap Chinese manufacturer to screw up (famous last words).

I dust them with silicone spray before installing. Press on the fuel rail schrader valve to release any pressure before taking apart.

You may want to check your Purge valve solenoid and canister located in the passenger side fender well. Common issue when hot.

get the ones for the new mustang, 04 or so, because they changed the material to better resist the crap they put in gas these days. The black Buna-n ones dissolve into the black crap you'll find when you clean them, as do our oem fuel lines from the 90. Chemtool b-12 is the shit, to clean with, if you can get it. green on one end, blue on the other; one liquid one vapor, supposedly.

My guess is that any O-Ring you purchase for this is going to be Viton no matter what year vehicle you type in for it. Also, just because it isn't brown doesn't mean it isn't Viton. They mold it in brown and black. Also fluoroelastomer = Viton.

True. Most of the black crap in the injectors comes from the lines, it seems, even though there's not much. E85 car's injectors seem worse. But lots of these cars leak at the injectors and catch on fire Ones 'Ive bought parts from, lol. As long as they don't look wet you're good. Scott is right about the canister being more likely making gas smell. I'd hate not to mention to check, and something tragic happen. The charcoal can isn't supposed to burn or explode. If you trust ford.

I changed the injectors out about 20k miles and 10 years ago so guess it's time.
Seeing as the intake system all has to come off I'm going to polish up a piece I missed.

those vapor lines going to the charcoal canister need to be replaced if not already. the fumes dissolve the rubber lines and they leak vapor. There are a couple sections under Rt side wheel well liner that are not readily noticable. i've always used vaseline or cooking oil on the o-rings for an easy install.

At the moment the tank is vented through a charcoal canister to atmosphere .
