Mods or changes you want to do…… but never will.

Are those the guys I called retards a while back? I hope there aren’t more than one 😂
They are, and I don't like them, but you can't deny the chassis holding up great through the abuse

I was thinking of a crown air freshener in my back window.

If you’re going to go tacky go tacky with the regular purple bag, black label is too classy 😆

Haven't been to a liquor store lately, I'll have to look at the shelf; my great nephew got a bottle of "crown apple" for xmas, maybe that's it?

I think it was only ever the rare stuff that came in a red bag. So might not find one of those.

Maybe a Red ,Green, Black, Blue bag shifter surround??

One of my nephews buddies had a truck with a nutsack hanging on the hitch.
:rolleyes2:
I painted them blue one night, lol. Sorry, too much bag talk, lol.

I’ve thought of replacing the info center, dummy lights, with an LCD screen running Android to use torque.

I'd love to see how these look, but there is no chance I'll ever spend $2000 per wheel in any universe.

I like the chrome FR500s better, especially with black paint.

I have a few wheels I’d like but they’re either rare or super expensive. I count my lucky stars the set I have I’m happy with… mostly…

But my white whale is polished CCW IIs

Is it a fun ride? I feel like disc wheels would look good on the C4

@Ericv8thunderbird thats a sweet vette, how does it handle compared to the bird?
I prefer to drive my Bird over the Vette. Both of them are on QA1 coilovers, the Vette has an overall harsher ride, but it does handle like it’s on rails.
It’s also kind of weird, cause you’re almost sitting on the ground, it’s hard to explain.

Disk wheels as in the saw blades? That’s what was on it. We decided to go with the C5 wheels though.

You mean C6 wheels? Looks like the front brakes are C5 or C6 as well. I’d keep it as is tbh, I think it looks great!

And yeah MN12s were the only other RWD American car besides that with IRS in the period but they’re apples and oranges in true handling(ride, sure).

Yes, C6. Sorry fat fingered that.

I did upgrade the front brakes to C5.

@Ericv8thunderbird at 1 point before my bird I was interested in a c4 like this, it seems like for today’s day it’s still a total weapon out in the road, it’s pretty light, handles great and looks awesome. In my research I found these 3 braces that (based on reviews) would fix a lot of the rattles it has, I read it was originally a solid roof but at the very end they decided to chop it to a targa.

I will attest to the targa brace, my old del sol had a X brace from a fellow member back in the day and that thing made a world of a difference. Very noticeable over beat up roads and driveways.

Appreciate the insight! I know I’ve read somewhere that the convertible C4’s had better undercarriage bracing, and those braces would bolt up to the targa top. I’m definitely interested in stiffening it up more, like you said it’s super rattley.

The C4s are a bit silly in that the targa top is structural with bolts to hold it on, you’d think structurally they’d be the same as verts… since that’s basically what a Targa top car is… but yeah the verts needed additional bracing to feel like a targa with the top bolted on. I’m sure there’s a weight penalty but they seem like a must have, especially if you leave the top off

Maybe one day I’d like to hit the bird with some stitch welding on the seams, In the miata chassis they say welding the door seams is one of the biggest and easiest improvements in terms of chassis rigidity.

Ultimately I’d like to get some SFC and fender braces. The import guys all say pretty good things about them.

This X brace in the trunk always peaked my interest

A member made extensive bracing for our cars: Front and rear shock tower braces, subframe connectors, irs connector, irs and an lca pivot brace.

I won’t turn this into a bracing debate as you know my opinion on those but stitch welding is definitely legit. The only real downside to it is if you ever need to straighten the car from a crash it becomes difficult if not impossible for a frame machine to correct.

The rail over the front tires on our cars are not overly big or structural.. All of the structural load is on the front frame rails, so while the side brace above looks cool, it wouldn't serve any function on our cars. Plus if you put a jack under a front control arm and lift it a foot, you'll be surprised to see the back tire start to come off the ground without much deflection along the side of the car. If there was deflection you'd see a dent in your rocker or rear quarter.

I will say that my V brace was cracked on my car, so either adding the SC "L" braces or an"X" like above may actual make some sense. I would say the X brace needs to be welded in to make it actually better. (IMHO - I'm not building a racecar, so I don't really "know")

@XR7-4.6 haha I can see why they say it’s mainly for track purposes. A plan of mine was to do a section at a time, underhood, door siles like in the miata picture, floor and working back. It seems to me like the biggest area of work is in the rear window section. Does your cougar have a brace back there??

@Zep5.0 my reasoning for the fender brace is, that strut is transmitting the force of each bump upwards to the top mount, that brace simply triangulates that area so that force is somewhat held down, the evo’s and sti’s use a simply bar welded in that place. But like I said these are mainly import car stuff.
