The Unofficial "Ask a Stupid Question" Thread

What browser are you guys using where it’s not showing up? Do other smilies work?

It's like that on all my devices.

Edge/Firefox... Linux/Windoze.... I assumed they were always broken

Are some emojis hosted on a banned in Florida porno server?

I think I might have found the cause(though still can't figure out why some of us see it and some don't) Does it show up for you now?

The mullet one is there now though, and that was the test one. I just needed confirmation that the fix I did was effective as I have to change them one at a time.

Out of curiosity did these ever work for you guys or were they always broken?

Haven't used this one since the early 2000s lol .... :gapteeth:

:bdh2: is only one that isn't working

This may not be so much a stupid question but rather an attempt to get reassurance.

My car is, and has always (= almost 3 years of ownership) been, quite moist underneath. But the thing is: fluid levels don't actually go down to any noticeable degree, and therefore I haven't been worrying about it. I also always park in the same spot, and there are no stains on the ground.

I think the oil pan may have a minuscule leak at the gasket near the driver side front, which coats the pan with moisture. But over the course of 3,000 miles, that translates to a quarter of an inch on the dipstick at most.

My reason to post today however is this observation: I was under the car, and I noticed that rubber plug in the bellhousing was moist, as it usually is, but with a red shimmer. I took it out and wiped the opening with a white towel; it was definitely red (albeit just a tiny amount of fluid). I looked at the converter drain plug which was bone dry. I checked the transmission fluid level which was normal. I haven't added any ATF since my fluid change a year ago.

So I'm guessing this is another minuscule leak. For the time being, I won't do anything other than monitoring the area. I check all fluid levels weekly anyway. But what would cause ATF to accumulate here? I'm guessing it's some type of seal.

The 4r70w seems to be a leaky transmission. When I took it out of my Cougar it had ~70k miles, so fairly low miles. The thing looked like it was slowly leaking about everywhere possible. It's like it was just slowly sweating ATF. But somehow it never left even a drop of oil in my cement garage floor :zshrug:

Same here, the plug and pan were always wet with ATF but there were never puddles or even drops. I replaced all the seals on my later model 4R70w and it wasn’t any better
