Is this a genuine PI intake?

Yep.

No holes into the valley ✅

Staggered runners ✅

Runner arrangement with the #5/6/7/8 runners being in front of the #1/2/3/4 runners respectively ✅(this is the old way how to tell OEM PI intakes from OEM npi intakes)

Undrilled/tapped coolant sensor boss by thermostat ✅(all OEM PI intakes with the lone exception of 02-05 Explorers/mountaineers are like this)

How much play in the differential is normal?

Imagine rear wheels up in the air, transmission in Park, parking brake released. If you turn one rear wheel, the other one turns in the opposite direction.
Now, if you change the direction in which you turn the one wheel, the other wheel also changes direction, but...here is why I ask the above question: I noticed a distinct amount of play between the wheels. I didn't specifically note the degrees I turned before the other wheel reacted, but there was a clear looseness.

The same looseness, I think, comes into play when shifting between R and D.

Here's my Dorman unit for reference. Position is from the rear towards the front. Think of it as you're in the car looking forward. Regardless, you can clearly see the differences pointed out by @XR7-4.6 between that PI you're asking about and my Dorman

Are the Monroe quick struts built to Sport or Non-Sport specifications?

Both of my cars have slop in them, can't say how much in metrics, but I believe it is normal.

The only direct replacement shocks that were ever made that were close to sport spec were the Tokico Blues and the Bilstiens. If only Monroe did make sport spec shocks all our troubles would be over!

Non-sport.

I just bought some Monroe's and they are non-sport.

Got it. Was hoping for Sport, but it didn't hurt to ask.

I got my units in earlier today and they'll be getting installed on Friday. Front end will definitely be less floaty at least.

Oooo, oooo... I have a stupid question!!!!

When I run the A/C on high and driving around town, there is this smell, like antifreeze or A/C or tranny or gas smell that is emitted. My Town Car did that once when we coming into Vegas after a long dusty drive from Albuquerque. What the heck is that smell??? Amaaco said it is the tranny passing heated fumes when the tranny gets hot. I have a tranny cooler on both cars.

Any suggestions?
The other day when I was replacing the starter, that same smell was there, on the passenger side of the engine, just a whiff or two, then it went away. It was after I played musical cars and switched garages with cars. I did not have the A/C on.

After driving on an errand, I pulled in the garage and I smelled it again, this time I was using the A/C. Same place, the area of the A/C radiator lines / fuel vapor canister. Last night, again, I moved the car from the driveway into the garage and smelled that odor from that area again. Since the A/C was not on 2 of the 3 times, is the air vapor canister needing to cleaned or rather, replaced? the only place I could think the smell was coming from is the A/C receiver / dryer, but there is no oil or wet areas near there.

Signed,
Puzzled

Can't remember if anyone talked about this one here. Just saw it on the FB page, so thought I would share for those not on there.

Looks like the professional products one, I wonder if it’s the same castings.

Looks like it probably is the same casting. Speedmaster is the new name for the same company that was Professional Products. Everything about this one looks exactly the same as the old Typhoon manifold. Considering the new Ford PI manifold that loses power is $400, I would much sooner buy this one to never have to worry about it again.

Don't forget about the long-gone Monroe Reflex. Not as good as Tokico or Bilstiens, but better than what is available now. Old posts on TSTSNBN had users saying they are comparable to sport shocks.

"For non-pollution controlled street machines, these are among the very best manifolds you can use."

Can someone elaborate on this vague claim?

Not for nothin', but why not just buy this used aftermarket Dorman "PI" intake for more than twice what you can buy it new for?

At least the new Typhoon isn't overly expensive. I regularly see people asking over $1k for used versions of them.

That is actually the new Ford PI manifold, not a Dorman. If you zoom in, you can see where it says “Made in USA” on the #1 intake runner. Still overpriced, but not as crazy as it would be for a Dorman.

Dormans are made in the USA too, the “Ford” “performance” PI intake just has a bolder font for the USA to make it not look like the Dorman it absolutely is 😆

It means paint it flat black if you have visual inspection 😝

Strange, only visual? We don't have that here. Or will it throw a code? Do inspectors just have an image of every bay :zshrug:

What's the red and green hoses for again? My green hose I just found out is broken.

EGR. the green one specifically is the one between the EVR and the EGR valve itself

These are JY finds only these days, right?

What other 4.6 platforms or year ranges have the green and red hoses that I could take from?
