Does anyone have the dimensions of the Thunderbird splash guards / mud flaps? The originals are hard to come by so I'd just like to get a set of customs made, but I have no idea how big they are / what size I should select. If there's anything I should know about getting a set, feel free to add that too. Thanks.

The front ones are custom molded. The rears are going to be easier to replicate. I have a set of both on the car at home. I’ll be home on Saturday.

Maybe someone can get you the dimensions before Saturday.

I’ve seen them both ways, the mud flaps with either the Tbird wings or Cougar head logos seem to be identical front to rear other than the holes for the bolts that hold them on

Lazarus had them, when I got it. I couldn't find a set for the red car in '05

I have some specs. I will try to get them to you. I got a set from the yard and then made copies from black office trash cans. they lasted several years before cracking. I put the T-Bird flaps back on recently.

If someone has one they could throw on a scanner, that would be cool! There Are ones on ebay, new manufacture, but no logos.

They are two different flaps. One for the front and one for the back. I will see if my scanner can handle something that size.

So I have a set, sort of. Here's what I have:

I took them in to a mechanic as part of having some other work done and told them to throw them up on there while they were at it. When I came to pick my car up, to my surprise they said the flaps didn't fit.

I could be wrong, but the ones I have appear to be these:

FOSZ-16A550-A.jpg

Which is F0SZ-16A550-A, 1987 date on the back.

I did some further searching, trying to see what various other part numbers were for. A search for F0SZ-16A550-B found an already-completed Ebay listing for "1990 - 1997 Ford Thunderbird Splash Guards White", albeit with no images. Nothing came up for -C.

However, also existing is F0SZ-16A550-D. Perhaps these are what a 1997 needs instead? I'll have to look into it.

It's really hard for me to tell, because all the images of people with flaps from TCCOA back in the day are dead due to link rot. Can anyone with experience with these let me know what's going on with the various subtypes of these? And what a 1997 front actually needs? Thanks.

I bought a set for mine that are on the car now, I'm away until Friday night. They are the molded front and rear, T-Bird logo on the fronts and blank for the rears. I'll check the part numbers when I get home and post back.

Wow, didn't know moulded was a thing back then. Mine were flat, and cut like Stanley showed above

I did a lot of digging on this subject, and while doing so came across this post:

I'm pleased to report that on 20 September 2024 the lost city of Atlantis was located, near San Jose California.

Did you buy them? This reminds me, I need to dig out the part numbers on the ones I bought.

If either of you find them, please scan them on a flatbed scanner and post it up. They'd be easy to duplicate these days.

I bought them: that's a shot on my living room table.

These have the rounded upper molded lip that aren't scannable as they won't lay flat. In any case, I just checked with the old ones and they're a few cm too long to fit on my scanner bed.

Reviving an old thread. Has anyone found short moulded guards that closely fit our cars? Something like this: 1000001292.png

Now, I'm not sure, but apparently what my 1997 needs, for the rears anyways, is actually F0SZ-16A550-D?
So those look to be what is on the 89 XR7 is bought a couple of years ago.

Oops, cropped the picture too small, the chopped off number is 14"

Decided to take some measurements and photographs. Click any image for larger size.

F0SZ-16A550-A contains two splash guards. I have a set here in the original packaging. They are 13.5 inches (34.3 cm) tall at the peak, and 7.5 inches (19.05 cm) wide at the bottom. They're listed on the packaging as being for both the front and rear.

I also have a set of four I bought second-hand. Two match up perfectly with the above (the gap in the bottom-right one has been cut in by someone), while the two up top have a different shape both at the top (larger, more rounded) and obviously at the bottom. While I found an image for them on TCCOA, I have no idea what the part code on these top ones are, or what looks like precut ones in the picture below (if you know, please post). Both fit fine on the rear.

20250617_150403.jpgMudflaps (4).jpg

As an aside, I tried cleaning the bottom-left one right after I took this photo, because it had some rust stains on one side. I used CLR, thinking it would be safe, but it just stripped the paint off instantly. The bird etching is still there, though, so does anyone know a paint I could use to repaint the bird by hand, and that would hold up to the elements?

I also have two sets of E3SZ16A550-B, made for the 10th-generation Bird. As you can see, they are the exact same size as the 11th-gen flaps. So, if you like the look of the straight Bird logo, you may want to hunt down these instead.

20250617_174458.jpg

10th-gen flap on left, with 11th-gen flap sitting on top of the other package to show how it lines up (precisely, curve and all).

Bonus round. I also have a set of F0SZ-16A550-D. The packaging says "pliable rubber", but unlike -A they're more a plastic than a rubber--much firmer. Their packaging says they're specifically for the rears.

20250617_145219.jpg

But while I was able to get -A to fit on the rears by drilling a few new holes in the rubber, these simply do not fit on my 97 due to the guard lip.

20250617_145318.jpg20250617_145325.jpg

On the left is how they would need to sit if you wanted them to be aligned properly, and on the right is how they actually line up on a 97 Bird rear panel. So it looks like I'll be selling these.

Does anyone know what year the panel on the back would have changed? I'm guessing 96, but I don't know.

I love those molded ones!

I wonder if they would fit an SC bumper. 🤔

I’m super interested in them.

If/when I put them up for sale (I still want to check the front for fit, on the off-chance it works), you'll have first dibs. But I'll handle that in a separate thread to keep this one just for info/reference.

If I remember correctly with the molded flaps, the fronts fit all years and the rears were year specific.
