My battery died on me Thursday, so Friday I drove up to my friendly WallyMart to get a battery for the Cougar. I get in the car, it won't start. I try to bring the window down so I don't melt in the car before I get out to check the cause of the problem. The window won't go down, or at least, it is sputtering and won't have anything to do with going down. And once forced down would not go up. Charged the battery to get to the store and on the way, the Check Engine light is going on too.... Frack, what a way to start the day. Get a new battery in, headed home, no more idiot light and the window STILL WON"T GO DOWN!

Pulled the motor out of the door and tore open the motor. I found grease on the commutator and bushings of the motor. SOB.

Tip #2843... Don't pack TOO much grease in the window motor gear assembly where it melts down into motor on hot, hot day.

Works great now! WOOT!
