This is a sort of placeholder to put new projects since I realized I didn’t move a whole bunch of stuff to my migrated one from TSTSNBN and don’t want to bury new projects in the middle of the chronology of past projects, as I’m still meaning to get my full thread here but I also have little desire to give that place my traffic.. so new thread!

Anyway, teaser 🥳

I'm working on it; what are you wanting on the cams?
I saw another set of the xr3e's, but they'd been on fire. my c heads are going back together.
I need to talk Oscar into wedding my intake back together. There was flash everywhere . I took all the mold marks out, but left it rough. Heads are ported as per nick,as well as the manifold.

I could use jbweld to put the bottom back ; it's vacuum, after all
I've got to have lash adjusters. I have 3,lol.
So where do you set the new ones; still 110?

Matt has graciously shared his build journey of the c-head version of the 4-valve headswap, if not for him, I'd be clearancing the hood with a cutter, to fit b-heads,lol.
C-heads, a Mach or cobra intake, and a 1/2" spacer Will clear.
For years, My standard question was,"will it clear a 96 hood?" :)
I was headed the same path as Goldbird.
I'm happy it ended up getting the home it needed, after getting trashed like my t-bird did by his new owner. :( (currently down with a blown-out freeze plug and latte-looking oil.)

This car had an order of magnitude more money put into it than Matt's build.
I believe the biggest part of Matt's build was much cheaper, and na.
Those cams are as much as an ebay blower, lol.

I'm happy this ones' corpse ended up with a good home.

Here's the step after na, an 04 cobra blower with integral intercooler.
That, with cams is a 1000 hp motor, and where I was headed, but greedy ebay types grabbed up the cheaper parts, and I traded the blower for some rare wheels. :)

Yeah I certainly have had it in the back of my mind “what else can I buy with this cash”, not just used blowers but Coyotes. At the end of the day though, by my very nature, I prefer the path less traveled and than necessarily the best and fastest.

I never felt like I really reached this engines potential, even with the advanced 98 cobra cams, I always felt like had I put aftermarket cams and headers on my old 2V it would have made the same power it has now, yet the 03+ 4V heads flow so much better, so I decided against sound financial logic to do that to the 4V instead to unleash its true potential 🙃

FWIW an Eaton will not hit anywhere near 1000 horsepower in 03 cobras regardless of cam, they hit a point of diminishing returns with ever smaller pulleys where they’re putting out more power killing heat than boost, and that limits them to about 450rwhp IIRC and beyond that that’s when people upgrade to the big Kenne Bells Whipples or would ditch superchargers altogether and go turbo to hit the four digit numbers. That’s also the reason used Cobra Eatons are relatively inexpensive and the basket and all the various accessory bracketry and timing covers that came on Cobras are worth a mint individually; those are still utilized with blower upgrades on those cars.

i feel good about the trade; wheels, I will enjoy more than 500hp.
My drives would be impossible. The 4v will be fine, lol.

My “trade” was essentially the selling of the bike for about what I’ve spent on two big ticket items(stay tuned for the next which should hopefully arrive this week) and potentially be SHOCKING given my past words for the vendor(actually it might be obvious now lol). I feel good about it too, though I do have some sellers remorse lingering tonight.

Boost just isn’t my thing, I have a harder time nerding out on a specific engine family when you can simply bypass its idiosyncrasies with boost, essentially making the engine a slave to the blower or turbo. It’s a philosophical thing with me, if I wanted 1000 horsepower I’d still rather have a big block(385 not BBC!) and it’s cubes get me there naturally aspirated than a LSx/eBay turbo, cost be damnded. This hobby isn’t supposed to be cheap and easy, hot rodding should be individualistic.

I miss riding my bike, but my fear of head to toe road rash has me moving slowly.
Next spring I'm going to find a 2 stroke 250 engine and stuff it in the it200sI have, and start with that. Eating dirt is easier to heal, lol.
I hope my exuberance didn't push you into buying it in the first place.
So have you decided on cam timing?

Wow, hmmm did I awake a sleeping giant 🤣! Go get it Matt! 😃

Not yet, I’m going to get in touch with NAsvt and see what he recommends. The cam card says 116°. Speaking of which I need to hit up the yards and grab some sprockets off a Navigator or something since the ones I have now are customized for the degreed Cobra cams, and I’ll probably sell those with them

And no don’t worry about it I talked myself into the bike, I had absolute tunnel vision where nobody could stop me when I was on the hunt. I wanted to try a hobby I’ve always yearned to and I can say without regret I experienced it, not just riding but tinkering on bikes which I had never really done either. It satisfied my ADD and I was ready to just move on. The safety aspects just overwhelmed me in the end, had I started in my teens is probably be fearless like I am on four wheels, but I have too much self preservation trying to start in my 30s. Plus I hate all the gear, boots and gloves is all I could tolerate and I know that’s an invitation for disaster.

In the end I now can ride motorcycles, I made a once ratty bike really nice, I made a profit on and it went to a good home.

Yeah now your exuberance pushed me along! 😆 4V Cougar club represent!

Wat forum is nasvt on? I lost track a few years ago. Didn't mod depot die?

Haven't seen him on forums in years. I heard he was on FB, but i'm not on FB.

every one
I've removed, nut was seized to the stud, so the stud unscrewed. dorman as replacements at az
Ive also heard to use the locking bolts are best on kooks, especially stainless. I always wondered where to put a bar like that. I've got to pull the engine in lazarus, so the set I have will go on the new pi engine for it.
I'm working on replacing the shocks on the red one. I bought mustang adjustable konis for the rear, and nos sport shocks for the front. I have another set I'm selling to brandon. On a ood note, B, I'm not sedated like last time you came by. :) I was WAY overmedicated until last spring; 3x 300m gabapentin a day, 3 flexoril, and 4 15m hydrocodone a day, I did sleep good, but sometimes could not be woken up, except by a "sternum rub" They use that to see if you're dead, lol. I don't wake well to intense pain.

I’m not B, I’m M lol I wasn’t accusing you of that… til now 😆

Funny part regarding exhaust studs is 94-95s used bolts, which I reused twice now(both on the PI head swap and the 4V swap. They never present any challenge. I intend to get new hardware this time around since I am acutely aware headers can be a little finicky though.

I could not get my doc to drop my meds; I found a way, lol. Our state requires drug testing, so the next time went to the doc I smoked down on some really good weed. :)
Failed the test; doc said "people aren't usually happy when I tell them that." :) Weed gave me my life back.
