Are these gonna be like a drag pack style with slicks on the back or just a replacement for the speedsters?View attachment 15614
I just did it as if it's a drag pack. Had to use a different program cause the one I've used for years shut down and I only now found out. I need to figure out the blending tool
Looks awesome! If I do it, it would just replace the Speedstars.

i80 Iowa today, was stuck for two full hours in between pileups

IMG_7960.jpegIMG_7961.jpegIMG_7962.jpegIMG_7963.jpeg

Mercifully the one (directly) in front got cleared enough for us to exit the interstate, but westbound was apparently even worse towards Iowa City and apparently the whole thing was shut down. Doubled back eastbound all the way home… Counted 22 wrecked semis on the way back.

I imagine weather had a big role to play in that wreck?

Any word on if everyone made it out of that?

Bad weather and drivers/truckers who don’t drive for the conditions

I saw 5 ambulances and I’m pretty sure the one in the white truck had to be cut out of the cab

I saw it had been shut down between Coralville and Walcott(Worlds largest truck stop) for to pile-ups. Not fun to be in the ditch when it's single digits out as well.

This system went south of us here this afternoon/evening and the northern edge skimmed us. Really nasty, fine powdery stuff. Super slippery slop! 🥶

The world’s largest truck stop is where it eventually backed up to, we were stuck just past the cedar river where there was a big pileup in front of us and a huge pileup behind us at the bridge. Once a few of us in the jam were lucky enough to exit and get back eastbound before it was closed again I saw just miles upon miles of dead stopped traffic backed up to it, and that truck stop for the first time I’d ever seen was at max capacity.

I saw 3 cars go off in front of us, one veered left into the center median and got stuck but could be pulled out easy enough, the other two however veered towards the right and went down a steep ditch and must have collided. After about an hour I eventually walked over to see what I could see and it looked like the whole lot of them were huddled in the bigger crew cab truck down there that was still running. I imagine they were probably still there by the time I got back home 3 hours later, what a nightmare.

When we were finally able to navigate through the psudo-cleared carnage we first got off at the first exit to a One 9 truck stop to grab a bite to eat and figure out what to do. One guy I talked to there got hit and ran by a truck that left his car totaled. He didn’t know what to do and frankly I wouldn’t either. Sleep huddled there and wait for a wrecker some time tomorrow, if lucky? There aren’t any hotels anywhere near walkable in that weather.

Anyone watch Anthony Joshua knock out Jake Paul in round six of the fight last night?

I heard Jake thinks his jaw is broken. That's just brutal! What a beat down!

He broke it twice. This is what happens when he faces a real boxer.
Yeah, he’s an idiot for even thinking that he can get in the ring with a real professional. I’m honestly surprised that he went 6 rounds with this champion. The end result was still as one would expect. He won’t be trash talking now with his mouth wired shut while that heals. 🤐

I took a few moments to examine the costs to run the cars over 2025.

The Mark VIII has had 3 oil changes this year (the others have not needed one); that cost is not included.

Mark VIII:

Oil change cost inc. adds about $100 to the total cost, about $0.008/mi.

Being driven through NC, it's hella dark out here. The only lights are from the houses and other cars.

Welcome to the south, lol.
Cover yourself with 'off', grab some binoculars and a piece of lawn, and check out the sky.
Totally different than CA city sky. :)
If you're near the beach at dawn, look for the 'green flash'.
Make Ron take you to the gun range, lol.

That is why I always chuckle when watching a movie/show and they show people running through the woods at night. You couldn't run for more than 3-4 seconds around my house before you ran into a tree and knocked yourself out.

Maduro should have taken what was likely a sweetheart deal to get out of the country early in 2025 after another obvious sham election. Anyone who paints him as a saint is sadly mistaken. My wife and her family are from Venezuela. I've never seen my mother in law so thrilled in her life. She was talking about actually visiting there for the first time in over 20 years. If she didn't send money to their relatives who still live there they would likely have starved to death by now. Forget about if you need any kind of medical treatment.

It is extremely tragic what Maduro and Chavez did to a once thriving and prosperous country. They took away the citizen's ability to defend themselves and controlled all of the media. The only people in Venezuela who didn't want Maduro out are people who were sucking on the government teet.

It will be interesting to see how many people go back home after this. So many people have left in the last 10 years. It is going to take many years and some really good leadership to rebuild, but they have the resources to do it.

The sky in CA changes depending on where in CA you're at. Where I live, on a new moon, it's dark enough to spot the ISS or other satellites across the night sky. Go further East into Joshua Tree and you can see the Milky Way Galaxy. Go further West and you see an orange sky and like 2 or 3 stars, lol.

Plans are in the works with Ron. Details are still being worked out though, lol

It's crazy how dark it is out here on these country roads. We went to Greensboro and we were literally the only light on the road for a few miles at a time. As we approached the city and more buildings (houses, stores, etc.) it got better, but damn, it's dark out here.

I used to do that for the Tbird but eventually gave up on it. It’s good to do that for our vehicles.

Moved this post from the Political Humor and Memes thread over here as commentary is not allowed in that thread.

So happy for your wife’s family. Yes. Hopefully that country can rebuild itself into a prosperous place for all. Having said that, I’m not optimistic.

Maduro and chavez are done; now we see what the trump grift crew can carry off. I doubt they'll end up any better off. Look how bad they fucked America in one year...

The last time I walked around the woods in the dark was as a teen, we have wild boar, and now bears; I don't do that now. The last time I surprised a group of boar, I ended up in a tree, completely out of ammo. Bears climb, lol.

We apparently have a bear family living near my house; if I go outside at night, I go heavily armed. 12ga slugs, and the .45 machine pistol. A 45 won't stop a bear, but 30 might. 120 definitely will.

Having been charged by a bear (I learned not to leave the .45 in the tent once upon a time), I would be happy just to make myself taste bad to avoid being eaten. My trip to Montana decades ago I learned that bear mace in a fire extinguisher size is about your best hope. Sometimes they just like it spicy they said.

A 10mm is on my "to own" wish list. They are about the standard bear gun carry.

Don't want one for bear protection aspect. Just the raw power, and the cool fact that FBI stopped issuing them because it was too much for some agents. lol

I've watched a lot of idiot's over the years choose a gun that's a bad choice. Glocks suck, as do 44 mags and 50 cal desert eagles, as carry guns. in a rush, you're much less likely to hit your target. And you're unlikely to see a bear at more than 10 feet, if it's a problem. one of my BILs hunt's grizzlies every year. No handgun is going to stop one. Tom uses a 454 express magnum for bear hunting.
Making noise might scare some bears, but a momma and cub, not so much.
One of the funniest things I've seen is someone break their hand with a .44.
