Chatbox Thread

So back when my whole fiasco with my light output started, I told my friend about it. He said that he'd get me some new headlights that were way better than what I got on Amazon.

I told him not to after showing him the pictures I shared with you guys in my headlights thread explaining to him what I learned here about our platform's light output being the way it is because it's the reflector housings that are the problem and not the light output itself. Well, he went ahead anyway and got me a belated birthday gift of some new LED headlights.

While I appreciate the gift, I'm not sure I really want them. These aren't cheap LED lights either. And while I may not necessarily want them, I'll still go ahead and install them later this week.

What would you guys do in this situation?

The ones I used were able to be clocked to get the elements straight up and down and the led elements were in the same position height wise as the filaments in the halogen bulb. I see this particular number doesn't have the provision to clock them and the leds are pretty close to the same height. Try them and see what they do.
 
I agree, might as well try them. If they're good, save the others for Pearl. If they're not, tell your friend since they are better you want to save those for Pearl😉
 
Yeah, I'm going to install them. Worst case scenario is they're no better than what I have now. Well, I guess they could be worse, lol, but hopefully not.

I'll have time tomorrow night to install while my daughter is at practice.

My moms Fiesta sounds like shit. For a month she says. I finally asked her to open it up to hear it better. What do you think is happening here? Is it knocking? She says she's never seen her check engine light come on, and is basically done taking it to the dealer for service this year

Yeah sorry to say that 0:17 sound sounds distinctly like a rod knock
 
Bang on the exhaust with a rubber mallet in mutliple places up by the engine. You may have a converter coming apart. You'll know it when you hear it.
 
Did my first flight in IMC (clouds) this evening - at night, to top it off.

Solid deck of clouds most of the time except for a few periods where I was between layers of clouds.

Way different than flying as a passenger on an airliner in the clouds or on my own when not in the clouds... I have to be the one who knows where I am, and keep the plane right-side up - all with nothing to see outside. :eek:

Instructor said I did well with the flying and radio work, especially considering it was my first IMC flight.

Are these gonna be like a drag pack style with slicks on the back or just a replacement for the speedsters?20251207_154221948.png
I just did it as if it's a drag pack. Had to use a different program cause the one I've used for years shut down and I only now found out. I need to figure out the blending tool
