Valve seals on 94-95 4.6s are notorious, and to lesser extent the oil control rings gumming up.
A good question to ask or look for if you see the car... Let it idle for a bit and then put it in gear and drive away, see if it smokes and then goes away. that would be the notorious valve seals. If that is the case, you can igore it. It won't do it on long drives, but will in start and stop situations.

Never seen a gray interior on a tan car.
Now you have... :P

$2300 obo....

I’ll give them $47.88 cash in full for the disco cluster at 77k miles. Which is more than any wrecking yard charges for instrument clusters.

It’s annoying boomer is such a fun word to denigrate an entire generation over because the greatest generation had way shittier taste in car accessories, they’re the only generation who thought that lower body chrome trim was snazzy.

Here is a nice one, beautiful interior! Has axle code E, isn't that limited slip? IIRC the seller "oneownercarguy" use to have a Youtube channel and in the past reviewed/sold a clean supercoupe.

Here is a '93 and '98 Mark VIII. Both swear they are 1 owner, driven by Grandma. Seems like the '98 is missing the engine shroud. It is close to you @Vicinity just in case you want another one :) I like the paint color on both of them.

Agreed, nice colors. It'd be nice not having a hot black interior. The 93's front fascia really is a bit better than the 98

I'm out of that game for a long time but I always like to review the ads regardless

Hey, only $32,000

This one could be worth this to the right person.

$23,000 and not a single picture of the engine or interior. And I’m sorry but RWL out and an aftermarket stereo on a 1000 mile car is plain stupid, that just nosedives that pie in the sky value as far as I’m concerned

Still a stock Canadian winter driver, pretty crazy it looks that good, at least on the surface

Here is a beautiful '96 XR7 w/37k miles. Sometimes when these cars have low mileage I am skeptical, but this beauty looks exactly like you would expect a 37K mile car to look like. Not sure if $11,495 is a fair price, but it would be hard to find another one this clean.

Here is '94 LX with 160K that looks like it has 160K, but it is only $650. Looks like a good project!

That 94 isn’t an LX, it’s an SC. That would definitely be worth saving! I can’t cause I’m clear across the other side of the country, but if that is local to you, I would definitely pick it up. Worst case you could sell the blower and the 140mph cluster and probably make your money back.

If a person likes MN12s and has the money, $11k for that Cougar is a good deal. Tell me what other 2 door V8 car that clean, you can buy at that price. You'd have that much in a nice paint job of you were to restore one.

I don't anticipate this will be a popular opinion, but I can absolutely tell you how much replacing all of a car costs

If it’s the exact year you’d want, the exact color combo you’d want, exact powertrain configuration you want, absolutely. But that’s a very specific buyer, I’d probably pay that for a Chameleon 95 Cougar in such condition because that’s probably my favorite, but a pacific green 96 Cougar? It’s nice but it’s not my thing, I’d sooner entertain repainting the car I have in the color I truly want.

As for V8 RWD cars, C4 Vettes and even C5 Corvettes, SN95 Mustangs, Lincoln LS, 4th Gen Camaro/Firebirds, LS and GS400 Lexuses etc. Actually even the modern trio of retro V8 ponycars from the late aughts aren’t that hard to find for $11k based on what I’ve seen on marketplace. V8 RWD is a desirable commodity to enthusiasts but it’s not THAT rare. Plus factor in platforms that are easy to transplant V8s into like 90s BMWs or Miata’s or whatever and where’s the mass appeal to make that price fair market value?

I love my Cougar and the MN12 as an entity but they’ll always be niche/labor of love possessions. I won’t judge anybody for paying that price, if that’s the car they want that’s the car they want, spare no expense(I think we all mostly follow that mantra) but as for the seller thinking he “knows what he has” …yeah… ok dude, GLWS.

And the other case in point is the $650 SC below it is every bit the car it is and more for practically pocket change. The speedometer rear bumper and blower alone exceed its asking price, yet you can have all those parts and many other desirable parts of you just fix the transmission for what? a grand?

I agree that 11k is steep having seen some slick bird ads for 8 grand, and cougars are generally cheaper. As far as the V8 RWD competitors, I assume the low mile MN12 owners have a bit more restraint and care. A hunch

But really, having a mint interior like that would be refreshing. Im a sucker for those paisley-esque patterns too heh

I mean, it's an  asking price. Nothing wrong with starting negotiations optimistically.

For me personally, the grey interior would be a deal breaker. It just doesn't work with the green exterior in my opinion.

For sure, on marketplace I tend to ask way more than I actually expect to try to head off the lowball offers, but there’s a point where I think you list it so high people just scroll past and say “fuck that!” I mean I think car is a solid $6,000 car, but that’s a nearly 50% lowball offer, I wouldn’t expect the seller to take it and I’d anticipate berating for even throwing it out there so as to not bother.

I should have added *with that mileage.* Most of the cars you listed, in good shape and that low of mileage are $20k cars.

It's not a super desirable car to me, as I prefer 91-95 cars, but if I wanted a 96-7, I'd be on it.
