I found a 1989 Tbird SC for sale near me for short money, it’s a 5 speed with 53k miles on it, white with blue interior. It needs a few things to be perfect, that I would fix.

Realistically, what could I get for it if I were to list it on eBay after I go through it?

It’s hard to say without seeing more. Just from that pic the headlights look brand new but I suspect it’s because they are, the paint looks chalky, there’s a lot of scuffs, I can see dents in the door and fender and obviously the drivers mirror has been replaced. It might be good for a flip if it’s under $1,000, but I can’t see getting it perfect with profit at the end for much more.

Hard to say. I'm guessing the current owner has no clue of the car's history? If it were somebody's baby you would think they would have taken measures to preserve it better. Maybe something broke (HG's, brakes, etc?). These cars seem to be a tough sell sometimes seeing as nobody knows what they are.

Props to this guy for just having a random toilet in his yard to prop up car parts to take pictures of them.

Selling a set of rear splash guards I bought from a member here. These are a real nice molded set. I believe they will fit 89-93 LX rear bumpers. They do not work on 94-97 from my experience.

I came across a FB marketplace ad with a bunch of model cars. My hope was to find a 1990 Cougar race car, but no dice. I did find a couple dozen Thunderbird race car models on the MN-12 era.

If anyone made IMSA 89-90 Cougar models I’d have bought several by now. I know Cougars are an acquired taste for the masses, but come on that is one of the coolest racecar bodies ever conceived!

NGL for everyone clamoring for 3D printed gauge bezels, I’d pay mint gauge bezel money for 3D printed MN12 Cougar models in general(preferably 1:18 which most of my collection is)
 
$150ea is pretty reasonable. The OEMs are much better than the aftermarket ones when they’re new.


That said I’d be so so so sad when they start to inevitably yellow in a few years if you keep it outside a lot
 
The 96-97 aftermarket headlights are very close to OEM, at least the Eagle Eye brand I bought are. It was under $200 for the set with matching corner lights.

That’s good, speaking for my experience with the earlier rights with the fluted lenses, aftermarket notably lacks to equivalent OEM in beam pattern and you can actually see it when you look at them side by side

Would putting in that 3M clear UV film something that's recommended to be done to prevent the yellowing?

I don’t know but I’m curious to try that myself on my new(ish)headlights. I contemplated UV resistant clears like spraymax 2K but based on experience it requires hours of sanding to get rid of the orange peel defeating the purpose.
 
That's what I had done with Lamin-x. I swear I'm the only one who keeps banging the drum on this because so many people elsewhere on the web complain incessantly about their foggy headlights but won't do what's needed to ensure they stay pristine after they're restored.

How hard is it to add the Lamin-X to a loose set of lights (or should I wait until after the install)? I'm having a set of projectors added to some new Eagles Eyes and would like to protect them once the work is done.
 
It's better to wait until after installing the headlight so it won't move around as you apply the film to conform. Apart from cutting the film, the rest of it is basically like wet applying a film-based screen protector for your phone, except the phone screen is insanely unwieldy.

I'm assuming you just ordered one of the universal kits?

I spy a logo in front of the projector, nice touch!

I did this on my wifes Lexus headlight and it's holding up great, they were yellow and pitted in areas. (the car is dirty as hell because im the only one who washes it maybe 4 times a year :facepalm:).... But not bad for just a quick rush job, with more care they could look like new

The clearcoat I used is labeled as UV resistant so hopefully it lasts. Did the same thing to refinish my Firebirds taillights and it went down really well. I put the clear on after a final wetsand with 3M Trizact 3000 grit.

My Cougars OEM headlights were beyond saving. No matter how much I sanded them the yellow color wouldn't come out. The plastic seemed to have degraded to FUBAR.

RockAuto has the headlights for 95's for $25 to $55 and I believe they are the Eagle Eye brand. That is what brand came when I bought them for my Town Car and the Cougar. 97 headlights are little more pricy.
