Post a picture you took today

While the console was apart for the manual swap, I installed a voltage gauge with 2 usb ports.

It’s a lot brighter than I anticipated.
I can see this as a good replacement for my cig lighter. I do have some headlight tint laying around that might calm it down a bit. Where did you find that?

look for some dark translucent plastic to go over it. a busted set of sunglasses will work as a source for it.
Green light will kill your night vision, red is better in that app. Amazon sells sheets for ~$20,but that's a foot square.
I was thinking of using a small piece of window tint, or tinted static cling.

Oh, yeah! Which head is that?
That's the AFR 185 as cast head. I cleaned up the combustion chambers, smoothing out the ridges from valve seat machining to reduce shrouding.

Waiting on the block to get back from the machine shop.

Did another small "build" with my daughter recently. We assembled a little 125cc ATV for her. Now we're about to start making parts for it on the lathe. :)

The old coal-fired power plant in my hometown had the final structural implosion last week. I flew past it today and this is all that's left.

They're leaving the one smokestack permanently it would seem as it now doubles as a cell tower. The old 1920s lobby is also staying because of its period architectural significance.

This is what it used to look like...

When you shut down 3 gaseous diffusion plants, you can afford to close power stations.

That’s cool they’re preserving the smoke stack, they’re an endangered species at this point.

Good riddance coal power. Glad to see it go (and I work in power generation).

There was a lot of controversy with that plant while I was growing up. They were continually threatening to close it down but the city and schools did everything they could to keep it open to avoid the loss to local tax revenue it generated while (no pun intended) generating. They converted (at least a portion of) the plant to operate on natural gas to meet EPA regulations, then up until they closed it completely it was only operating during peak periods and was idled for the rest of the year. The writing had been on the wall for a while.

Yeah I have no love lost for coal plants, my grandpa lost the home he built in the 50s due to fly ash contaminating the water table from the nearby Oak Creek plant on Lake Michigan.

… still, there was something cool about seeing old school industry in action, me and my cousins actually rode bikes across the field to there in the 90s to watch the trains unload coal, which I found absolutely fascinating.

I was chatting with my dad about his career at CEI (Cleveland's power company) after he got out of the Army - I never really understood what he did. Apparenlty he worked to maintain the steam lines that provided heat (and in some cases A/C, ironically) to many of the buildings downtown from a few of their steam plants. Quickly going obsolete now with updated HVAC; he was forced into early retirement over 30 years ago.

The 61,62 and 63 were styled the same, rear taillights like jet engines, and the 64 and 65 had those as pictured. We had a white 64 vert I used to get rides to school in. Going to the drive-in theater to see movies in that car was cool. I remember seeing the good the bad and the ugly in that car, at about 4yo.

Me being on vacation has really screwed up my sleep schedule. Because of my FUBAR sleep schedule, I wake up late and lounge around and don't get started on this until like 2pm 😅. So I run out of daylight, gets super cold (relative to me & SoCal) and can't continue for the day. So here I am, with this stuff not yet done and heading into day 3 on this project. This should get done tomorrow, lol

I understand completely. I got up for 30 years at 5:20 am, to go to work or school. Since my involuntary retirement, I get really bored if I get up then, so it has gradually drifted to up at ~2pm, and bed after seth goes off. But very often, I don't sleep at all, for days. Then I take meds and sleep a day thru. Or until the cat gets me up.

Chamfer the PVC ends to create a pocket for the glue and prevent wiping it completely out of the socket into the fitting.

Primer is not necessary for red hot.

You can put water on red hot after 10 minutes; it doesn't need hours to cure.
